“Beautiful and personal stay”

Being an Authentic Naxi house made the stay in this ancient town so much more beautiful. Carol and Johnson are amazing hosts and sharing their house made for a lovely experience. The location is perfect and the modernisation makes for a very comfortable stay. The freshly made breakfast is delicious - my favourite definitely being the egg wraps. Carol and Johnson go out of their way to welcome you and make you feel at home. This was one of our favourite stays.

“Lovely hosts and a great base to explore Lijiang, Shuhe etc”

We only had one night here but enjoyed our stay a lot. The hosts are very lovely and gave us great tips for food and a hiking trip in Yuhu (20 mins Didi drive). Shuhe has not only a commercial part but also an authentic old part. It’s a great base to explore the area.

The accommodation is located in beautiful area of Shuhe, it is quiet and Johnson is super friendly and helpful. He also cooks wonderful local breakfast.

Johnson and Carol are so nice. Helped us plan our trip to tiger gorge. We had to leave early in the morning to catch the bus so we couldn't make breakfast. Johnson and carol packed us a quick breakfast to take with us 😊 The room was great. Big clean comfortable with a great bathroom. Its located in the ancient town not the old town. For us no problem the ancient town was quiet, peaceful and beautiful to walk around. And it was only a 15-20 min taxi to the old town if you want to go there. Best guesthouse we have ever stayed in. Thank you 😊

Absolutely wonderful stay! Johnson and Carol go above and beyond in making sure you have everything you need for a great experience. They're really good with recommendations and offer a range of hikes and excursions that get away from the usual over tourists experiences. I wish I'd realised and would have arranged more of my travel time with them. They also happen to live in the nicest part of Shuhe that gets less of the tourist traffic. The breakfast was really lovely too

It was great time in Lijang. Johnson and Carol were very friendly and kind householders. They helped us to find hotel in Shuhe antique cite, answered all our question about Lijang, Jade show mountain and cetera. Room was really large with cozy atmosphere. This time in Lijang wiil be deep in our hearts for the years. Strongly recomend this hotel.

“Very enjoyable.”

The room was beautifully decorated and very cozy. Heaters and extra blankets and an electric blanket provided to keep warm during the night. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. The host was very helpful in providing information on what to do around the area and gave us a brilliant restaurant recommendation which was just around the corner.

“Tradition and comfort in the heart of Shuhe”

This is a original Naxi house that was carefully and lovingly renovated. It was a very unique experience staying at Johnson and Carol’s place, a great mix of tradition and comfort!

We loved our stay at the Jayden lodge. The location is absolutely amazing at the edge of Shuhe ancient town where you have the mountains in the back and a beautiful view on the busy town! Johnson and Carol are amazing hosts and so helpful! They were so much help and had amazing tips for hikes food and anything else one would need

The room was more spacious than expected, and I wished that I was staying more nights to be able to make use of the space. Bed was comfortable and toilet was clean. Hosts were friendly and engaging, and went out of their way to try to find me when I was initially struggling abit to find the location. Appreciated the help with bringing my luggage up the stairs to the room and navigating the uneven terrain when heading out from the Ancient City to get on the ride to the airport. Highly recommended for those who prefer quieter spaces and the outdoors. I would be back to take up the hiking activities!

“Authentic experience with an international flair”

Very hospitable bilingual family. Sound advice on travel, food and in general.

Super kind host Carol who helped us to book trips to jade mountain and taxi rides. She also woke up early to prepare peanut butter sandwiches and yoghurt for us. She speaks perfect english and is very friendly and warm. Traditional Naxi house and room feels like home. They also have a very intelligent, super friendly dog and a kitten (recommended even if you are scared of dogs/cats they are super cute). The location was really good, near to many nice eateries, yet at a quiet (er) location. You can hike up their backyard to reach a hill which overlooks the whole shu he town. Overall the stay was really, really good. 10/10 recommend to all our traveller friends.

“A beautiful and calm homestay with warm and good-hearted hosts”

Carol and Johnson went above and beyond to make our trip comfortable. They linked us up with private hire drivers who drove us from Tiger Leaping Gorge to Lijiang, as well as from Lijiang to Dali. Johnson also helped us book tickets for Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (can only be purchased the night before through local WeChat accounts), and even went with us to the ticket counter at Lijiang Romance Park as Chinese ID was required to collect tickets. The breakfasts they prepared were warm, nourishing Yunnan specialities. They had splendid recommendations for local restaurants and gifts to buy for the folks back home. They are generous, open-hearted people who love company and good conversations.

“A stay to remember”

Great looking authentic Naxi style house, yet room is very large, modern and comfortable. Top location a few minutes walk away from Shuhe old town. Hosts are a model of helpfulness, and genuinely nice people. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple nights with Johnson and Carol. Bonus: cute kid and dog to play with :)

The nicest place I have been in China. The family is just adorable. You will feel like home. If you want to meet Chinese locals that is THE place to go. They will be happy to help, answer your questions and do their best to provide you with your needs. They speak perfect English. The room is huge and comfortable. The bed is very comfortable, shower hot, and the location can't be better. Downtown, no cars around, but shops/ cafe/food at a walking distance. Don't miss it!

It is very homely. Both Johnson and Carol were very kind and helpful. Their son Jayden is a bundle of joy who took me around town. Carol help us in getting the Didi car to Qiaotou. My bag was left in a taxi and she help me to contact the driver to get back my bag. Definitely worth staying here.
