The property is on the pistes. It is thus very well located and while the rooms are relatively compact, they are warm and comfortable. You are staying here in large part for the location. The stay is half board and the food is good. The staff was friendly and there is a place to lock up skis and a boot warmer. It must be borne in mind that the only access is via the telecabines (not a criticism - just a fact) meaning you need to be aware of and plan for this in terms of judicious packing and timing of the lifts (lift access up and down to the hotel is free so you do not need to buy a pass for access to the hotel).

Absolutely Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs!” Our stay at Chalet-Hotel de l’Etape was a complete nightmare from start to finish, and I strongly advise anyone considering this place to look elsewhere. 1. Rude and Unhelpful Staff Although some staff members could speak English, they deliberately chose to communicate with us in French, making an already stressful experience even worse. Their attitude was dismissive, rude, and completely unprofessional. 2. Horrendous Access Reaching this hotel is an ordeal in itself. The only access is via a cable car with restricted hours. Upon our arrival, we were given incorrect timings for the cable car, which left my wife, child, and I stranded on the other side of the mountain, in the freezing snow, miles from any help. The hotel staff offered no assistance whatsoever, and we were forced to book another hotel for the night to avoid freezing in the middle of nowhere. 3. Awful Dining Experience The first night, we were served ham and cheese for dinner despite not eating pork. When we informed the staff, we were rudely told that we should have notified them in advance. They refused to provide an alternative, leaving us to eat plain cheese and tap water for dinner. Breakfast was equally disastrous—limited to a first-come, first-served basis. If you arrive late, there’s nothing left. The “options” were laughable: croissants, cheese, milk, and orange juice. 4. Unlivable Rooms The rooms were freezing cold, with no heating whatsoever. To make matters worse, there were no power sockets, making it impossible to charge our phones or use any devices. The discomfort was unbearable. 5. Wrong Food Orders When we ordered food, we were served completely different items than what we requested, adding to the frustration and lack of care from the staff. 6. Unhygienic and Smelly Environment The hotel was shockingly unhygienic. The communal areas reeked of damp, making it unpleasant to even sit down and relax.

Easy access to the ski slopes, especially ski school. Easy a manage a family both in ski school and a teenager skiing with us, but a little late out of bed!
