Overview
Located away from the hustle and bustle in a beautiful river valley in northwest Iceland, this family-run guest house is 20 minutes’ drive from the village of Hvammstangi. We offer Wi-Fi in most of our rooms and in the lounge around the reception. Brekkulækur's old house was built in 1936 and has been lovingly renovated and offers small, individual guest rooms with shared facilities. In the newly built part, there are double and multi-bed rooms with private bathrooms, as well as a bright, friendly apartment for up to 5 people. Our small restaurant is open from June - August during the times that we are hosting group travelers. Please inquire in advance by phone or email if you would like to have dinner with us. Breakfast is automatically included with every booking. Various attractions such as a nearby seal colony, waterfalls, hot springs, museums and tourist attractions of various kinds are waiting for you. For experienced riders, horseback riding is possible on prior request. Central Akureyri is less than a 3 hours’ drive away. We and are two dogs are happy to welcome you here!

“Thoughtful touches everywhere”
They’d thought of everything. Travelling with a 1 year old and they had toys for our room, breakfast cups and plates for him and just made us feel so welcome 🙏🏻 the best feeling after a long day in the car!

“Excellent”
Claudia is a nice host, very friendly and accommodating. The guesthouse is situated in a farm that is quiet with a nice view. Dogs are cute! Also received a free upgrade to my room :)

“Excellent stay.”
The guesthouse is located in a beautiful valley. The owners are nice and considerate and had a good breakfast available. All very clean and well maintained.

“Convenient to stay if you are traveling by car, for example from Reykjavik to Akureyri.”
Breakfast was included in the price and we had the opportunity to taste rhubarb jam made by the hostess (delicious!). :) Please note that the house is situated off the main road and there are no shops nearby, so you will need to take care of the food for dinner in advance. The bathroom has heated floors. Two very friendly and lovely dogs greet and accompany each guest.

Everything! Very warm and welcoming atmosphere, super friendly staff and owners, lovely dogs and horses, the location near the river, ... and since the guesthouse wasn't fully booked, I got a bigger room at no extra cost. What I liked best, however, was the ride across the river :-)

“Worse stay ever”
We got late checking in. The owner of the Villa was extremely rude. Both the husband and wife were so rude to us. They kept complaining to us how we were late to check in. We felt like we were living at the property for free. They treated is like third world citizens. They have no manners and don't know how to take care of guests or be hospitable. I would never treat my enemy like this.

Nice location. It is a familiar place and the hosts are very welcoming. The rooms are simple but clean. They do not offer food service and there is no kitchen that you can use. However they offer a good breakfast included in the price of accommodation.

it was very nice, it is family business, our room was not with kitchen, which we expected, but everything was sorted out and we could use the kitchen, so that was also perfect
