“Perfect, quaint and a very special property!!”

As seasoned travellers from the UK we came across this little gem after stopping off the Amtrak station. The manager Ansh was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. The Victorian room was beautiful and very unique. The history and memorabilia in the hotel was very unique. La plata was a very special place for us and this property is just perfect would definitely recommend to any travellers!

“A must stay! The Depot Inn, La Plata MO”

This place is such a wonderful place to stay! Always clean, always accommodating. The 'boys' in the family are obsessed with trains, and The Depot Inn has trains and information! It is completely decorated in train themes. The are a few suites and the regular rooms are awesome! In your room you are able to use a special TV and watch various live train crossings and stations. We browsed the Lookout and the Amtrak stations. It has a pool which will blow a whistle and water comes out a pipe from above, an outside BBQ patio and even bicycles (we) could ride. There is a pool table in the lobby! The location is perfect. Walking distance to a gas station, Dollar General and a fantastic Mexican restaurant! We have drove from Sioux Falls to Macon at least once a year and since we have found Depot Inn we would never stay elsewhere! Kudo's to all at Depot Inn! Love it

We enjoyed everything about the hotel, the staff were exceptionally helpful, the room very clean, large and comfortable. The train theme was funky but not overwhelming. Great Mexican restaurant next door. Loved the place.

The breakfast was ok. Not much in the way of prepared hot things. However, everything else was excellent and more than made up that difference.

The Depot goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. We stayed in the Pullman Suite. It was beautiful. I was impressed by the small touches. The alarm clock has extra charging ports. That saved us some hassle because I forgot my charging block. The nice thick robes were great. I slept like a baby both nights because the bed was massive and like sleeping on a cloud. Soaking in the Jacuzzi probably helped with too. Also amazing. I was also able to soak up some knowledge about the history of trains and the La Plata area. Fun fact, I was super impressed with learning about Lester Dent. Amazing guy. So visit the Depot, or Google him for a bad ass read. 😉 The main thing I would like to go on about in this review, was the staff. We stayed for 2 days, and every time we left the room, we were trested like family. I was really blown away by the level of customer service. When we checked in, the weather was nasty and it was late, the lady at the front desk had turned the heat on in our room in preparation for us. That was so kind of her. The entire staff was absolutely top notch. If you want to be treated like royalty and are looking for a diamond in the rough, here's your place.

Location on the highway and reasonable distance from Kirksville. Staff was very polite and helpful. train theme was interesting but not the main reason we stayed there.

A Railfans dream, Like staying in a Railroad Museum, Wish we could have stayed another night. The free breakfast with hot fresh waffles was awesome. We would definitely stay there again. Wish it was closer to the wedding venue, the reason for the trip.

I like how friendly the staff and owner was. I really thought that the staff went above and beyond. The room was clean.
