“Perfect for GR R2 hikers – clean, comfy, friendly staff, great nearby restaurant.”
We stayed at Hotel L'Ecrin for one night while hiking the GR R2 trail on Réunion Island. I highly recommend it to all hikers, as it's located very close to the trail. The hotel is pleasant, clean, with comfortable beds and a beautiful garden. The receptionist was friendly and spoke English, which was a great help. There’s also a restaurant right next door where we had an excellent dinner.

What a surprise! We picked the hotel as a no-frills overnight stop before climbing the next day. We arrived late to be welcomed by some excellent staff and given a warm and comfortable room. The on -site restaurant is truly excellent - some of the finest food we have tasted on this trip. We were leaving early the next day and breakfast was delivered to our room.

“Perfect location, friendly staff, extremely clean room!”
Great location being very close to the volcano. You have your own balcony, all the essentials, the room had its own rustic charm and was extremely clean. We were leaving at 5am, well before breakfast the next morning so we got a tray of goods including tea, coffee, croissants and juice etc which was a very nice gesture from the staff there, they were very friendly and helpful.

The advantage of this accommodation is that it is a good starting point to visit Piton de la Fournaise. The staff is nice and they are able prepare a breakfast if you wanna to climb up the volcano before dawn.
