Incredibly beautiful space, lovely host, great location (quiet but well connected). Washing machine and dryer to use. Great bathroom and inner garden. Many convenient details in the room. Very comfortable beds (although we usually don't sleep on futons), full breakfast included.

The property was absolutely wonderful. A really authentic taste of Japan, very comfortable, immaculately clean and in a lovely neighbourhood. The host was faultless and the breakfast was superb. The small touches, down to being served different tea ready for our return in the afternoons were appreciated. We couldn’t fault anything and this would be one of the few places we would definitely return.

Rokkon Guesthouse was one of the highlights of our trip in Kyoto. The house is located in a great neighbourhood with easy transportation and is absolutely beautiful. That said, the best thing about the guesthouse is Kayoko-san's hospitality: she was super helpful in helping us receive and send our luggage to the next destination, providing great local recommendations, and she spoiled us with so much good food: we look forward to breakfast every morning!! She put in so much effort in taking care of her guests. Thank you so much Kayoko-san for a great time in Kyoto!!

An absolutely lovely taste of authentic Japanese accommodation. Kayoko was the highlight, a warm and gracious host whose homemade Japanese breakfast was delicious. The room was generous in size,clean and comfortable throughout. Having laundry facilities on hand was a real bonus. Everything about this stay exceeded our expectations.

Rokkon guest house is just perfect! You can feel the charm of Kyoto but it’s quite near to go to Gion district, if you like walking like us, is walking distance to center of Kyoto. Kayoko cook very well, she is so kind and helpfull. She prepared a great breakfast! Love it. Thank you so much Kayoko.

Perfect hospitality. Genuine and very cozy accommodation in an old fashioned Kyoto house that has been tastefully renovated. Far from the atmosphere of a chain hotel. Attentive and friendly service. We had a wonderful stay.

“Wonderful charming traditional Japanese guest house”

Kayoko welcomed us by opening the front door at arrival and checked us in. The upstairs room beds were very comfortable and had everything we needed in terms of toiletries and amenities. The Japanese breakfast was always on time we requested and delicious. I was a bit sick with coughs and she gave me honey and medicine. So thoughtful of her. Having a laundry machine and tumble dryer was perfect after a few days in Osaka before moving onto our next destination. The guest house has only two rooms with one on each floor.

Such great warm experience of japanese traditional accomodation. Superb homemade breakfast.

This was genuinely one of the best stays we had in our 3 months of travelling around Asia. Kayoko is the loveliest host and has created a really warm and welcoming environment. The room was comfortable, clean and well furnished, with a wood burning stove that made it extra cozy. Location is perfect and we would highly recommend anyone considering a stay in Kyoto to stay here!

Our stay at Rokkon Guest House felt genuinely restorative. The house has a calm, thoughtful atmosphere that stays with you long after you leave. The hosts were exceptional, warm, attentive and quietly generous. Every detail felt intentional, from the garden and the artwork throughout the house to the beautiful breakfast each morning. After long days wandering Kyoto, returning to hot local tea and a peaceful space felt like a small ritual of recovery. Practical touches also made the stay easy and comfortable, such as access to a washing machine and well-considered utilities for guests. What stood out most was the sense of care that runs through the entire place. Surrounded by art, nature and quiet hospitality, the experience felt almost cleansing, as if the space itself encourages you to slow down and reset. It was one of the most memorable and thoughtful stays I have ever had. I left feeling grateful to have experienced it.

“A perfect Japanese experience ❤️”

I cannot recommend this place highly enough - everything about the stay was just perfect. Even before we stayed the host was so helpful, and during our stay was absolutely wonderful. The breakfast was excellent, and the beds were easily the most comfortable we’ve had in Japan.

Beautiful guesthouse in Kyoto. Had a very warm welcome from Kayoko and a delicious breakfast served the following morning. It was a shame to only be staying the one night.

Rokkon is in a great location to access the city & public transport. Lovely neighborhood with excellent coffee shop right across from the guest house. “Absolutely charming!!!”

This was so charming!! The best stay we’ve had in Japan so far. It was so cosy, the pajamas were such a nice touch and it was lovely to get into clean fresh pajamas after a day exploring and put the fire on. I loved it and couldn’t recommend it enough if you want to experiance some of the charm in Japan rather than a big hotel. Also the BEST shower we’ve ever had!!
