Where do I start? Have to say it was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and by far the best hotel I stayed in whilst in Japan. The rooms were massive and extremely comfortable. The breakfast simply beautiful, could not fault it. Extremely relaxing and the location was just amazing, right outside was buses and the subway was not too far way, loved the location!!

“A very elegant and comfortable retreat”

This is a very civilised hotel, indeed. Sleek, modern, elegant and with a certain sense of drama as you are required to walk up a beautiful ramp on arrival that hugs the side of the hotel, alongside a a stream of running water. Our room was wonderful, with a magnificent view of the garden and the buddhist temples beyond. Very efficient and courteous service all around, and very nice breakfasts. Very easily recommended and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful! It was a beautiful and the most comfortable stay of our trip to Japan. We visited a few hotels and this one stood out due to its staff and setting. We mostly stayed at 4-star hotels, but the one extra offered by this one was a leap relative to others. It was very clean, comfortable and so tranquil. The location was excellent too to slow down and experience the beautiful walks and gardens around. I wish we would have allocated more days to this one. I already miss it 🥲

Style was beautiful, staff were extremely helpful and made the stay that bit special. I visited for my honey moon and the staff remembered. Between 3pm to 6pm they offered complimentary drinks like wine and beer and even tea for those that don’t fancy a drink. Which was a nice touch. Gym small, but never busy and just the right amount of stuff to get a workout in.

The room was reasonaly spacious and had a bit of view.

This is a Japanese-owned and managed hotel, and the attention to detail is unlike anything I’ve experienced. The staff is incredibly attentive, brilliant, and accommodating: warm, thoughtful, and perfectly measured. We stayed for a full week on our honeymoon, and not once did we feel our privacy was invaded or that anyone was “hovering.” It was service at the highest level without ever feeling suffocating. They also went above and beyond with personal touches: handwritten cards, flowers for my wife’s birthday, and even a custom birthday cake. They timed it perfectly so it arrived when we got back from a day trip to Osaka, at the ideal temperature, and I didn’t even have to ask. The food is second to none, every day was cooked to perfection. Even the small details stood out: beautifully prepared coffee, immaculate cutlery, and presentation that felt quietly luxurious. Now the rooms and location: the hotel is beautifully built and feels almost otherworldly. If you’re coming to Kyoto, it makes sense to stay near the mountains and temples rather than in the busiest city center, and this spot is perfect. The hotel has access to a beautiful temple, and many rooms have stunning views that make mornings unforgettable. It’s silent, peaceful, and genuinely makes you feel frozen in time—like you’ve stepped into a calmer, different world. The amenities are exceptional too, from the essential-oil toiletries to the silky, high-thread-count sheets. “Super New, Comfortable, and Exceeded All Expectations”

Super new, comfortable, clean, and an overall excellent stay! This hotel exceeded the photos and my expectations. Everything felt brand new, spotless, quiet, and very comfortable—with a luxurious feeling throughout. The location is fantastic, right near one of the best temples in Kyoto and with easy access to buses to go around the city. For me, it felt like a bonus: a "onsen feeling" bathroom (infinity bathtub next to shower) separated from the bathroom sink, and a separate, isolated toilet and a second bonus, the beautiful view from the lobby to a Zen garden. The staff was excellent, very kind, and spoke perfect English. The area is peaceful and safe, perfect for resting after a day exploring Kyoto. Everything was truly excellent. Highly recommended!
