“A lovely place on an island of quiet paradise”

After initially booking for 1 week after a few days we decided to stay for 2. This alone should give some idea of what the villa is like. Our contact person Sakura was very helpful in this regard as there was a scheduling conflict which she sorted out so that we could extend our stay. The villa is open, airy and has a fantastic feel about it - others have written reviews about the calm feeling you get once you step inside, and the beautiful scent of wood that comes from its building materials - and they do not exaggerate. This place is a lovely oasis of calm on an island which is itself also an oasis of calm. The sound of the breeze flowing through the sugarcane fields across the road, to the towering Fukui trees which surround the property - it's really quite hard to describe the feeling. Yes, there is a low shelf over the kitchen counter which is awkward (they will be raising it soon I think), and yes, the windows at night (even with the blinds pulled) leave little to the imagination, but we found that none of that mattered in comparison to the soulful nature of the place. The neighbourhood is quiet and the silence at night is golden. We really loved it. The kitchen was well equipped, and we cooked both western style (meat and 2 veg) and Japanese style (rice plus lots of small different various dishes) with equal ease. If you're into diving the marina is a ten minute walk away, the supermarket is a ten minute walk (or a 2 minute drive) and the town with bars and restaurants is a fifteen minute walk. Eef (Ifu) beach, rated as one of Japan's 100 best beaches, is just in the town and is quite stunning.
