Stunning traditional period house in the most beautiful location within walking distance of the Matsumoto-toge Pass. It felt like staying in a piece of history. The host was amazing, offering so much advice and very kind. We had the best nights sleep of our 3 week trip here.

“Love this place! One of best old Ryokans we stayed in on our travels. Unique. Quirky.”
The owner was so kind and helpful. She's done a wonderful job of restoring the house. She's the perfect host. We could use the kitchen to prepare our meals. She also took us to the local tatami making workshop and the fabric shop where they weave Ise Momen and acted as translator for us. Such a special person and place.

“We enjoyed very much in such a beautiful house.”
We were free to use most of the facilities of the house. We cooked our breakfast at the kitchen and had a lovely morning. Yuko san helped us to coordinate our guide and transportation to next destination. Her recommendation on restaurant was good. Overall she was very helpful and kind.

The host is great, very friendly, speaks perfect English and is very helpful. Yuko showed us great things and recommended great sights. Kumano is a small village with breathtaking nature all around. We would 100% come back.

It felt like a privilege to stay at this lovingly maintained historical house. It is also right on the Iseji route for the Kumano Kodo.

“Perfect”
The house is absolutly amazing : old wooden bourgeois house . Very impressive. On top of that Yuko is charming ,has been travelling a lot,very knowledgeable and speak perfect English
