Overview
Only a 2-minute walk from Senbabashi Train Station, Dyeing and Hostel Nakashimaya is a female only property that offers affordable accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy views of Kumamoto Castle from the balcony and experience traditional tie-dyeing activities. JR Kumamoto Train Station is a 20-minute walk away. Guests can choose to stay in private Japanese-style rooms or in shared dormitory-style rooms. All rooms feature air conditioning, tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. Nakashimaya Dyeing and Hostel is a 15-minute walk from Kumamoto Castle and a 10-minute drive from Honmyo Temple. A coin-launderette is available. Guests can sit by the traditional Irori hearth and enjoy DVDs on the flat-screen TV at the shared lounge. A free-use internet PC is available and the free-use kitchen comes with a microwave and fridge. No meals are served.

“Japanese style guesthouse with European details.”
This guesthouse is very special, full of small unique details. The inner space feels very warm and welcoming. The shared room has comfortable mattress. The guest house has a kitchen and also living room area with a TV and manga books.

This place is like you have just landed to some kind of magical world. :) So beautifully designed, perfectly clean and sooo warm and cozy. Staff very friendly and helpful, fluent in English. The room was tiny which might be something to consider if you are not good with small places, no problem for me at all.

It was soooo cute ! With all this stuff inside it is like a museum. The atmosphere was very calming and the host very kind. There was also a rooftop where i could see the castle!

This place was great! The host was so kind and able to offer some good suggestions for food and visiting the castle. The location was super convenient and the hostel was clean and very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

“Safe haven for women travelling solo.”
The host was incredibly kind. She introduced each floor of the house to us after checkin in. There’s a common room with board games, manga, little trickers, a beautiful rooftop with the view of Kumamoto castle, an incredibly cute kitchen. The place felt magical.

love the place, with all the details of Japanese decorations and Japanese style. I felt like time went back to old ages in a Japanese "castle." You can sense the love and effort that the owner has put into this hostel. Recommend Nakashimaya to all females travel to Kumamoto.

Lovely hostel. Warm welcome. Beautiful property. Good facilities. As an introvert who uses hostels purely for cost reasons, I found this a good one! About a 20 minute walk from the station.
