This was a very special experience in a quiet rural setting. I wish we had longer here! The house was beautiful and spacious. The location charming. We elected the dinner service which was superb. Overall it felt like a very authentic experience.

Amazing Japanese cottage, great location in between several trails and shrines. Rice fields, lots of parking options and an authentic Japanese street. Sweet and helpful service. The best experience! Also booked the Kamado lunch which was an amazing experience. Cooking rice and miso from scratch and learning a lot about rice, fermentation and pickles.

Our stay at Yao-Kumagawa was an absolute delight. We’d let them know we’d be arriving late, and they kindly waited for us — even phoning to make sure we were on our way. That warm welcome set the tone for the whole visit. The house itself was exactly as pictured: charming, peaceful, and wonderfully relaxing. Nestled in a small, friendly community, it felt like a serene escape. Just next door is a fantastic little jazz kissa (café); don’t miss their “Magic coffee,” a treat worth savoring.

We absolutely loved Yumane! It was perfect for our family (two kids) and such a beautiful property and area to explore. Our only regret is not being able to stay a little longer.

The house was beautiful and very well thought out. The location was gorgeous as well. The stand out was the amazing hospitality we received from Nathan who greeted us and translated our cooking class and took us on a fantastic bike ride. He was so helpful, friendly and passionate about the area and Japanese culture. We learnt so much from him and were made to feel so at home. The cooking class was incredible. The teacher was exceptional and so lovely. Thank you for an amazing experience !

Very nice and beautiful renovated townhouse! The food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful! Also really lovely little post town surrounded by stunning nature! We which we could stay longer but we were on a road trip and had to go to our next destination, would recommend to stay at least 2 nights! Thank you to the staff members and the moms from the village for the lovely food and stay!

Food is extraordinary delicious, made with local ingredients and unique sauce. A meal that is unforgettable！The menu is specially designed with a clear introduction that you feel how dedicated they are to prepare for such a high-quality meal. 3. The environment is so cozy and relaxing. I love this kind of traditional style that is really worth staying. Everything is properly maintained, and the bed is really comfortable. 4. Nice to have a morning walk around！ Highly recommended to all！

This was really amazing. What a lovely place and so friendly people. We booked dinner and breakfast. The food was cooked by women from the village and it was so delicious. The welcome was so warm and inviting. This little village is worth a visit only one hour drive from Kyoto. Thank you.
