“A perfect stay with exceptional hosts”

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at the Gästehaus Schloss Kronburg. We received a very warm welcome from Carolin Vequel-Westernach and she took the trouble to show us how we could best enjoy our stay - whether walking, cycling, local spas, recommending bakeries, restaurants etc. Our apartment for two more than met our expectations for cleanliness, spaciousness and facilities. An extra bonus was the spa area of the Gästehaus consisting of an infrared cabin and a sauna. We also enjoyed a wonderful view from our room and terrace that stretched as far as the Alps. One of the highlights of our stay was a tour of the Kronburg castle that Carolin kindly offered us. The castle remains very much home to the Vequel-Westernach family and you can feel the passion that they all have for maintaining their heritage whilst also preserving its future. Carolin's mother and father have overseen extensive renovations of the castle, and the work has clearly been performed with love and respect. The Gästehaus offers free bikes with great choice and quality - and there are easy bike routes a short ride away that can take you all over the Unterallgäu. The Gästehaus is well situated and we found very friendly, reasonably-priced venues serving tasty food relatively close by. If you like a little shopping - it is a short drive from Memmingen where you can find everything you need. Closer still, there are numerous supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, etc. The Vequel-Westernach family were extremely helpful to us during our stay - and nothing was too much trouble. They are very down-to-earth, genuine people and I can't stress enough how good they were as warm and welcoming hosts. Principally, for that reason, it is one of the best places we have stayed in over 25 years of travelling - and we will return again.
