We are absolutely delighted with our stay! We spent 2 days at Zofukuin. We were welcomed by friendly young women who explained everything to us. There is a service at 6:30 AM. The onsen is open from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The room was large, spacious, and had a beautiful view of the garden. Food isn't provided, but there is a restaurant nearby called Ponpoko where you can enjoy excellent dishes in the company of locals. There is also a Family Mart close by. All the staff were incredibly welcoming. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience!

The onsen felt really nice. The futon was nice. The morning prayer that I was able to sit in for was very interesting and impressive.

“Great place to explore Koyasan”
Central location and great base to explore Koyasan. Morning prayer was fascinating. Lovely room overlooking the small Japanese garden. I had read the review about being in a modern building but this wasn’t the case for us. I think, from what I read when I was there, the rooms with private bathroom are all in the new bit. Shared bathroom rooms are in the old bit. Onsen was lovely. Very clean and overall much more affordable and worth it than some of the temples we stayed at

“A total experience package”
It was such an amazing experience to sleep in the temple! :) The staff greeted us with the biggest smile when we have arrived, our room was great, extremely clean (also had air conditioner) and traditional Japanese - the pillows were also traditional and filled with grains, but i had my own pillow so I had no issues. The bathrooms were downstairs, you walk everywhere with provided slippers. The showers/onsen are only to be used between 4-10pm. The temple has curfew and you have to be back before 9pm because they close the gate. We could attend morning prayers from 06:30, which was a great experience to witness! We could also store our backpacks the next day and discover Koyasan.

“Unforgettable”
The entrances of the ryokan, surprised me. The views from the room are awesome. The experience to sleep in a temple is unforgettable. The public bath are so nice. The location is perfect, just in front of the bus stop.
