Dinner was excellent! Beautiful lodgings. Serene setting. Worth the trip even with our four children who were dubious about how they'd cope with the experience. We loved it.

The place was amazing. Very beautiful, with a zen garden outside. Very obliging people at the reception and everything as described. The hole of Koyasan was a unique and unforgettable experience which was enhanced by our stay. Extra special like to the showers which were traditional ryokan style. What my body needed after so many days of exploring cities in Japan!!!

So glad we didn’t miss out on this one night excursion to Koyasan

A fantastic ryokan experience in a vast impressive temple complex. Dinner and breakfast was exceptional and prepared with great care, and the 9pm curfew was actually a great opportunity to slow down and take stock. We pre-booked a room with an ensuite, which made it a little easier for our family. The staff were extremely welcoming and the early morning ceremony was just great. Thank you!

Beautiful room with a window overlooking the garden and the vermilion Konpon Daito Pagoda. The sound of the bell and the scent of incense completed the picture. The morning prayer was very interesting and emotional.

Unique & uncomfortable experience, but very overpriced

The hotel is quilt an experience to stay in a formeer pilgrim’s lodge. Very authentic place with their OWN tempel onsite. Breakfast and dinner were included but we didn’t like it a bit. Parking is free. Nice is the location directly across the street from one of the main temples. The prayer ceremonie at 7 am is nice to experience once.

A heavenly spot

Staying in Koyasan was incredibly special. The temple was incredibly beautiful, and being able to attend morning prayers was an experience I will never forget. The room was traditional - we had a lovely fresh dinner sitting cross-legged in our room before a visit to the small but very hot onsen and then a wonderful night's sleep on very comfortable futons on the floor. There were also some other activities you could do - we copied out the sutra (a prayer in Japanese text), which was like a meditative calligraphy lesson. We also had a shiatsu massage, which was incredible and got rid of all my neck stiffness - this was not provided by the temple but is advertised in their in room information leaflet and I'd highly recommend.

Nice ryokan experience in a peaceful environment.

Large Japanese style room. Structure is a bit cold but rooms were equipped with AC and a gas stove. Rich dinner and breakfast. Well located far from the Main Street.

An incredible experience that we will treasure.

It was incredible to have the opportunity to stay in a Buddhist temple. The room was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the traditional meal and the morning ceremony was very special, a memory that will stay with us forever.

Wonderful opportunity to be immersed in the magic of Koyasan

A visit to Koyasan wouldn't be complete without a stay in a monastery and we would highly recommend this as a perfect place to choose. Very convenient location for the major sites. Luxurious it isn't (not that we expected it to be - it is a working monastery after all) but we found it perfectly comfortable and had a very good night's sleep. The opportunity to participate in the morning prayers was an unforgettable experience. The dinner and breakfast were excellent, although not all of it to our taste, but thoughtfully presented.

Amazing

A great temple stay experience - the room was huge, with a balcony. The dinner was delicious as well as the breakfast. We also participated in the morning temple service. The area around is beautiful and peaceful. Also they have sento (a communal bathhouse).
