Beautiful Temple, very nice staff. Very clean public bathrooms. Our room was spacious and futons were very comfy and cozy. Of course we had to turn on the kerosene heater, but it warms up quickly. Im vegetarian and found meals tasty and plentiful even if I didnt know what I was eating, but my partner is not and found them ok. So, if youre not used to plantbased food you might find it bland. Temple provides umbrellas for guests to use in Koyasan. We attended the morning prayer and it was very special. The head priest was very kind and translated some parts in english at the begining and end of ceremony. Koyasan is absolutely beautiful, it was one of the highlights of our trip. I hope you enjoy it with respect.

“The highlight of our vacation”

Ryokan style feel with an amazing view over the internal courtyard garden. We had the honor to sit for the morning prayer service with the monks. My 3 year old daughter was treated with great kindness by the staff. Their cooks created some delicious vegan meals.

The room and the temple itself is beautiful. The location is fantastic. And the morning praying ritual was an amazing experience. The only downside was the food which was not good at all. I love vegetarian Japanese food. But the one served there for dinner and breakfast left a bad experience. Overall I suggest the place while advise to get the food from somewhere else.

Very special to stay with the monks and the morning prayer with them. It was very traditional and we could do Kangi. The dinner and breakfast were also very amazing.

Excellent meals, very friendly staff, ideal location. The 22:00 curfew is nice as it allows a night tour of okunoin cemetry without stress.

The dinner and breakfast were wonderful, and very carefully prepared. The room was a beautiful traditional-style one, with tatami and futon. The staff were all extremely helpful and kind, and we were even able to purchase some charms. The public bath was very clean and well-kept, and it was interesting to experience it. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Absolutely a beautiful place, the gardens are lovely, the room was large and clean with a lovely view and had A/C which we needed as it was hot this week. It's also in a fantastic location, making everything very walkable from the temple. Dinner was served in our room and was delicious and plentiful (we're vegetarian so we knew what we were getting into, it met expectations). The public bath was nice and I was the only one bathing at the time. They do have normal wester private shower spaces as well. Seems the bathrooms (the ones I saw anyhow) had been updated, at least in comparison to other reviews I read that suggested they were dated. The women who checked us in and gave us a tour was very sweet and kind. Our room was simply beautiful and made us almost not want to go out and explore but, to just hang out in the room instead and drink tea. I'm really glad we stayed here and we enjoyed the experience.
