“Coming to Japan? It’s something you should experience if you’re really interested in Japanese culture.”
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The onsen was at the perfect temperature! Food was very good maybe even a bit too much in quantity haha, especially the breakfast. “A memorable temple stay in beautiful Koyasan”
A unique and memorable temple stay in a great location in Koyasan. The vegan meals were simple but plentiful and delicious, and the morning prayers were lovely to witness. The monks were very kind and welcoming. They have an elevator between the ground floor and the rooms - a very surprising feature. Overall, a very cool experience, and Okunoin Cemetery and the scenic train and funicular journey to Koyasan were highlights.

“Wonderful - 5 stars”
We were the only tourists staying. It was an amazing experience that even our teenagers enjoyed. The hospitality of the monastery is wonderful and the food was impeccably presented.

Had the best sleep. So comfortable. Room was clean, heated and comfy bed. Had complimentary tea and biscuits. Dinner was delicious and plenty. Breakfast was ok. Japanese bath was small but great. Monks were helpfull and speak good English. Loved everything but too pricey for what you getting.

very comfortable stay. the facilities are great. the monks are verh hospitable. we enjoyed the food despite being served. one that stood out is the food that is made from yam i think and made to taste like unagi. the morning prayers is a good spiritual and cultural exoerience for us too.

My stay at the temple was a truly special experience. The location is excellent, right in the center of Koyasan, so I could easily explore everything on foot. The monks are kind and attentive, creating a peaceful and respectful atmosphere from arrival to departure. The vegetarian meals were delicious, beautifully prepared, and plentiful. You can feel the care they put into every detail. Remember to show respect during your stay — use gasshō to express gratitude, avoid taking too many photos, and simply enjoy the present moment. The schedule is well balanced, and even though I thought it might be short, it turned out to be perfect. I recommend spending two nights and three days in Koyasan to enjoy the autumn colors, morning or evening walks through the cemetery, and the meditation sessions. The tatami was comfortable, and although I didn’t have a private bathroom, I was alone, so it felt peaceful. Don’t miss the temple garden; it’s a quiet and beautiful place to reflect and relax.
