The lodge reception area is very beautiful, set in nature and surroundings are very pleasant to enjoy and just relax. Open fires create a lovely setting over fantastic dinners. We did not see much game, but enjoyed the walks around the lodge. Food was exceptional and presented very well! The warm natural spring was very nice and special. Staff and owners were all fantastic.

Huab lodge is one of those places that will stay in your memory for a long time. The drive to it is a bit off the beaten track, through gates and over a few small dry river beds. But once there, gosh! Peace. Except for the birds, the insects, Deon and Lidia's welcome, this is the life! Then the rooms. Glorious. No frilly gold plated stuff. Don't expect bling. Just comfort. Great views, spacious, great bathrooms. This is an ecolodge so no hairdriers or aircon. But they are not needed. Relax. Great food, proper hospitality, the night sky... worth it for nightjars and stars alone. And then the desert elephant safaris... just go there.

Such an amazing location, super quiet with stunning views. Rooms beautifully furnished with gorgeous view of river bed. Owners so very lovely and really knowledgeable. Diet such an elephant whisperer, finding the clever elephants on our tour. Canyon so very beautiful and wonderful food too.

“Such a great experience to search for the desert-adapted elephants!”

Wow, this was a really great experience! It's a beautiful lodge, very deep into nature. We did the day into the riverbed to spot desert-adapted elephants. Ut was such a great experience! It started with: "It's 200km of nature from here to the ocean". We were lucky to find elephants, but also enjoyed the trip and surroundings very much, and the way the owner took us along everything he knows about the valley. Very much worth the trip! On a totally different level, we had some car problems with the battery. They owner plus the maintenance manager of the property fixed everything: "No worries, you guys have vacation, we'll fix it, you will be able to drive again tomorrow". Next morning, they had found that both our batteries were dead and had replaced it with a spare one from the owners car! Also good to mention, all the staff is great, and we had lovely meals. As one of the staff members said: "I like to work here, it's not a place where they want to make profits, everything is put back into preserving the elephants ", and that is how it felt very much for us.

“Lovely, remote, family feel”

Huab was great - very remote and felt like a lovely retreat in an already fabulous holiday. The food was really great and in the morning had a great filling omelette too. There is a nice family feel around dinner as you sit with other guests and all join in together. Normally we wouldn’t go for this on a holiday (looking for peace and quiet!) but on a Namibian road trip it was actually quite nice to have a social sojourn squeezed in between all the solitude! Room was also really nice.

“Our favourite place!”

We stayed in a lot of great places in Namibia, but this was our absolute favourite. Beautiful accommodation, stunning setting, warm and friendly service. We loved the rooms with the huge balcony, and the large communal dining/bar area. All guests (and the owners) sit together at one large sociable dinner table, the food is excellent. We also did the Desert Elephant Tour with Deon - this was a real highlight of our trip. We were lucky to find the elephants, but even if we hadn't it would have been worthwhile for the beautiful journey along the ephemeral river beds (and the lunch!). This place is very special and we will come back one day.

“A truly unique experience. We'll definitely recommend Huab to our friends and come visit again!”

Huab has a truly exceptional setting, being properly remote and untouched. Not only does one get to see desert elephants on a game drive with the lovely Deon, but one gets to meet desert elephants who are not used to seeing anyone else drive through but him, max once a day, so it really feels like a wild encounter! The staff is exceptionally pleasant and caring, the owners are truly fabulous people, and the rooms are beautiful and spacious. We came in November when the day temperatures were hitting 40 degrees and yet the rooms felt cool enough for our babies nap during the day, and opening the windows at night made for a very cool sleep, so the lack of aircon didn't end up being a problem. The pool is really special, and the thatch bar/restaurant area has a unique character and beautiful views. The food was surprisingly good and varied for a place this remote in the middle of the Namibian desert too! We felt incredibly welcome and looked after by the small team, which made for a very special and intimate experience, the perfect ending of our Namibia trip after the business of Etosha national parks!

Our hosts were so nice and gave us a very warm welcome. We made a tour to see the elephants in the desert and were actually lucky to see them. It was a short but wonderful stay there. Thank you for hosting us!

Our stay at Huab Lodge was simply a dream! We were very warmly welcomed and the location is absolutely unique. The food was also excellent. Our absolute highlight was the River Drive. The nature and also the elephants were really breathtaking. What we really liked was how respectful the handling of the elephants was. It was left enough distance to the elephants and also respected when the signal came that we should "move on". Nevertheless, we were able to spend a lot of time with the elephants. You just noticed that they are free and wild elephants, which made everything even more unique. By far the best drive of the entire vacation.
