Overview
Hólaskjól Highland Center is situated in northern Fjallabaksleið in the Highlands. If you arrive from the south the last 30 km are on a F road but no rivers to cross. If you arrive from the north you have river crossings and need a 4X4 jeep. The property features mountain and river views, plus is 7 km from Eldgjá and 40 km from Landmannalaugar. The accommodation is equipped with a kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet and a sink, the shower is shared on the campsite. If you would like to discover the area, cycling and hiking are possible in the surroundings.

“Great location, but very expensive and ordinary hut.”
The location is amazing. The road to get there is a nightmare, get ready for that. The house is pretty small. It is ok, but the price is insane in the end.

“Cozy cabin at a terrific location”
Cozy cabin at a small campsite just at the edge of Fjallaback national park. Very friendly and helpfull staff. The cabin is really small, but we (family of four) loved our stay here in the middle of nature. From the cabin, it's a 10 minute walk to a nice waterfall. If you have the proper car, be sure to drive F208 and F235, two of the most beautiful (and at times challenging) roads in Iceland.

Perfect spot for hiking in Landmannalaugar and surroundings. Everything you need (except for, maybe, hot water), simple but clean and nice. We loved it the last time so we came again and stayed longer this time.

In the nearby of camp were 3 waterfalls and there were beautiful nature. Personal was kind and polite.

“Exclusive”
Like how secluded and special the place is. The fact that it is close to a nameless waterfall. The lava maze that leads up to the waterfall. We have our own cabin, although the space is a bit tight with limited room to move about, the place is comfortable. The host was exceptionally friendly and shared a lot about the space, and about Iceland.

“Ideal place for backpackers”
A beautiful and peaceful place in the middle of nowhere. The owner was very nice and attentive. The main kitchen (which the owner nicely allowed us to use) was very well equipped. The cabins ware very clean and cozy. Nice waterfall and canyon nearby.

It's literally like being in the Lord of the rings 😁 amazing road trip to reach the place in the middle of the nowhere, a small but cozy and warm cabin, yes its a bit cold and the showers are "outside" the cabin, in another small cabin, but that wasn't a big issue if you can adapt a little bit! There's also an amazing waterfall and a hike you can do in one of the most beautifull places we have ever been! The owner was really nice!!!

Everything! The host, loving and caring and fun, the place is amazing, we could get shelter during bad weather and get our strength up for the road the day after. The chalet is not big but is more than enough and we'll furnished. You have toilets inside and the shower is in a little hut right outside. Thanks!

“Great place to stay in Iceland's highlands”
Hólaskjól is an awesome place to stay if you're looking to explore Eldgja, Langsjor and Lakigigar areas. There are several types of accommodation available: campsite, common rooms in the large building and cabins. We stayed in a kitchen-equipped cabin which included a kitchen/dinig area and a private bathroom. The cabin had a bunk bed that could comfortably sleep four people and decent wifi. The area around Hólaskjól has a beautiful waterfall, a few minutes' walk from the campsite - definitely worth visiting. Keep in mind that showers are located in a separate building, so bring your slippers and toiletries (and a light if you're taking the shower after sunset :) )
