The location in Izu was great, really central, the actual location on top of route 135 was not great. The property was clean, staff really friendly, the onsen facilities good and the room was excellent. The amenities that came with the room were above and beyond, the face mask was such a lovely bonus. The complimentary massage chairs and the sketching pads and voard games really complemented a restful stay. Kaiseki dinner was amazing and even an English translation was prepared.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk away from Kawazu station. Just in case, they also offer a shuttle service. This is our second time visiting this property and it has become our favorite escape from the city. The staff is amazing, the rooms are very spacious and include everything you need, from toiletry to coffee grains! Last but not least, the room open-air bath is just amazing!

Very comfortable stay with professional housekeeping management which gave us a glimpse into traditional Japanese onsen culture; the staff are very kind and helpful taking charge of everything ranging from meals to the onsen with meticulous care; the dinner was absolutely excellent: not only did they offer a great variety of Japanese cuisine but they did it in a magnificent way, serving every delicacy with great hospitality and professionalism.

The service was amazing and attentive. I stayed at 4 onsen ryokans in the Izu area and this was by far the most intimate and traditional experience. The food was tasty and abundant. I would highly recommend a stay here.

It was a shame that, due to travel plans, we couldn't stay longer and enjoy the local area, especially given the extra complimentary services and amenities that were offered for beach-going - very thoughtful!

“Charming beachside ryokan with faultless hospitality”

Our favourite of the four ryokan we had the pleasure of experiencing in Ryokan. What tipped it was the incredible staff, who went to every effort to make us feel welcome throughout, and managed to walk a perfect line between friendly and professional. We were particularly grateful to the one lady who took charge of both our meals directly; this personal touch - making sure you have the same point of contact throughout your stay - seems to be a feature of Ushiogumo, and was very much appreciated. The room and rotenburo overlooking the beach is beautiful, with ample amenities including a charming coffee stand in the adjoining powder room. Dinner was also excellent, with each course prepared and brought to us individually in our private dining area, as well as a sake tasting set that I thought was extremely generous in its proportions. In fact, I think maybe the most skillful aspect of the whole arrangement is that Ushiogumo does well to screen guests from one another, so that you have the impression that the whole ryokan is put on entirely for your benefit.

This place is a luxury, you are treated exceptionally well, the staff is extremely helpful and kind and so very welcoming. The amenities and location are just amazing, you can walk along the beach as it's right across the street, There are only a few rooms so it is very peaceful, the onsens are amazing, the staff made us wonderful ice coffee to relax with outside as well. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Everything was positive about this ryokan! Staff were extremely friendly. The onsen bath in your private balcony was fantastic, having the luxury of enjoying onsen in your room. They also had two private onsen rooms which you can book to use for free! We stayed for two nights and had kaiseki for dinner both nights, which were amazing as well. It was truly an unforgettable experience staying here.

“Intimate and personal ryokan experience”

We had a wonderful stay. Miwa-San took very good care of us since the moment we stepped foot inside until we left. Felt very personal and staff is very attentive. Free milk, free rental for picnic baskets, etc. Top notch facilities.

Everything. Onsen on balcony overlooking the sea was fabulous. Supplied dinner and breakfast were exceptional. The staff were welcoming and helpful.
