“Great hostel to experience Nepali Culture and roam in Katmandu.”

Very good location in a more quiet neighborhood (for Katmandu). Lots of local shops and restaurants to experience Nepali food and culture. Its also a very short to the Thamel area. The staff was really helpful and easy going. Western toilets!

Great stay! Truly a home away from home. Coming from a quieter, rural area in Davao, finding a place that feels genuinely grounding can be tough, but this place felt like an extension of home. The location is absolutely perfect. It gives you the best of both worlds: if you want the vibrant bustle of Thamel, it’s just a few steps away. But if you need to head out further, the 24/7 crew is always on hand to sort out taxis and logistics seamlessly. Speaking of the crew—they are fantastic. They are incredibly welcoming and easy to blend with, making the whole experience feel less like a standard stay and I know feel like one of the locals ☺☺☺ Highly recommended 👌

I loved my stay at gurung's home: - super friendly and helpful staff - santosh is always there to help you, and always with a smile - a bit outside of thamel (7min walk to thamel) in a nice, peaceful and non-touristy neighbourhood with small restaurants and tea places - you can also get dinner at gurung's home - very clean

I really enjoyed spending 5 nights at Gurung’s Home between the Chitwan experience and the end of my journey in Nepal ❤️ The location is perfect, calm and local — so nice for resting and enjoying time with other people. Gurung's Home is quaint, clean, and well run. Everything felt very organized and intentional. The food was great, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and most importantly the staff was extremely welcoming. Santosh gave me an immediately high impression of Nepalis and made me feel comfortable not only in the hostel, but in the city in general. If you want to feel genuinely cared for, this is the place for you, and at an extremely reasonable price.

An exceptional stay at Gurung’s Home in Kathmandu! Everything you need for a perfect stay is here: the place is clean, well located, offers great value for money, and the food is really good. But what truly makes the difference is the hospitality. Santos and his team are incredibly kind and welcoming. They were genuinely wonderful to me and made me feel like part of the family. It’s the kind of place where you’re not just a guest, but truly feel at home. I already know that every time I return to Nepal, I will come back to Gurung’s Home in Kathmandu. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm atmosphere, amazing people, and an unforgettable experience.

When you read this review it’s a sign to book this lovely hostel. I came to Nepal with just one night booked here and the people helped me with everything else. Everybody is super friendly and they know when you need something before you know it. Especially Santos takes a lot of time for his guest to create a welcoming and homy atmosphere. Some hostels just feel like a home and Gurung’s home is one of them. I couldn’t be happier that I booked this exact hostel. “Peaceful hostel just outside of Thamel”

A really nice hostel with extremely welcoming staff! I stayed here for 3 days and I would come back again. The boys running the place are so kind and helpful, the beds are comfy and the location is perfect (it’s around 15 mins walking to Thamel), in a bit quieter area, which is definitely a big advantage for me. There’s a nice communal terrace where you can order some food (delicious btw), chill or connect with other travelers. Good value for money too

This hotel is truly special. The location is perfect: it’s situated in a quiet area, yet just 10 minutes walk from the main street. The setting is incredibly cozy and pleasant, featuring a lush garden with outdoor tables where you can have breakfast or meals or also read a book. The staff is genuinely attentive and nice. They are all young, hardworking people who never stop smiling. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and comfortable. We had dinner here and it was great! Also the breakfast was very good. Honestly, we couldn’t find a single flaw. Go there!! You won’t regret it.
