Overview
Guests at Hotel Taisetsu Onsen&Canyon Resort can enjoy indoor/outdoor public hot-spring baths and request for relaxing massages. Some hot-spring baths are available 24/7. JR Kamikawa Train Station is a 35-minute drive away, and a free shuttle is available from JR Asahikawa Train Station during the winter season. Rooms at Taisetsu Hotel have a TV, a safety deposit box and an en suite bathroom. All rooms have tatami (woven-straw) floors, while some rooms have hardwood areas with Western beds. A sauna room is available for guests to enjoy their stay. You can purchase local gifts at the souvenir shop . A free-use internet computer is provided at the lobby. “Great place to stay and explore nature”
Central location near the ropeway station (though closed for maintenance in June). Good base for exploring the beautiful nature around us. Interesting buffet spread, including DIY dinner and breakfast options - Pottery grill (beef and Genhis Khan); Sakemushi and hamcheese toast :P

“Nice remote resort onsen hotel”
Both the buffet breakfast and dinner spread were good (as we expected). Everything was free-flowing including the beer, wine and sake. We liked also the variety of onsens offered. The location was great for hiking around the area and being slightly uphill away from the town area offered some level of quietness.

Breakfast and dinner is good and varied, but too crowded with tour group. The room is very spacious and cosy which I like most. The onsen is good. The outside is beautiful with snowy day.

Amazing location, beautiful views from oncens. They have 3 different oncens. Was very nice to chill in the hot water and look at the snow storm outside. Buffet dinner and breakfast have sufficient quality for the buffet. We enjoyed our stay

Two fabulous outdoor onsens with amazing views of the blizzard outside in minus 20 degree weather One unusual indoor brick onsen with plenty of choice of different baths Amazing buffet meals at both breakfast and dinner including free alcohol included Beautiful communal areas - very upmarket Great location for the ropeway Plenty of western options at both breakfast and dinner buffets The drive up to the hotel is magical but scary in a white-out

Good buffet dinner and breakfirst, 3 diff choices for onsen. Staff very nice and helpful. Good atmosphere, lots of local Japanese family staying this.hotel and feels like a typical Japanese style hotel.

Onsen facilities and everything else was on point, food was also decent, quite a wide buffet spread for both breakfast and dinner. There was also free parking on site. We only stayed here because of its proximity to Daisetsuzan National Park.

“A pleasant hotel in need of a bit of updating”
The hotel has a good buffet, although busy and a nice onsen with indoor and outdoor baths. Sounkyo gorge is beautiful and the hotel is in a good location to walk to the ropeway and to the Momijidani Waterfall. Note that the walk to the waterfall is short in distance but steep and challenging in places, you need good footwear.
