Stayed April 2026 as a family with a young child at Maria’s Apartments in Kalyves and had a really good stay overall. The location is lovely for a relaxed beach holiday, with the sea and tavernas just a short walk away and the village feeling calm and family‑friendly. The apartment itself is quite basic but clean and comfortable, with enough space for the three of us and a small kitchen area that made simple breakfasts and snacks easy. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a straightforward, good‑value base near the beach rather than lots of facilities, and we’d happily come back.

Maria was a very welcoming host and was always helpful and friendly. We were met with homemade biscuits, during the stay she gave us some more lovely home cooked treats. To have the garden to use and direct access to the beach was a real bonus. The apartments were spotless

If you are searching for a perfect holiday spot, you just found it. Your private garden with stairs to the sea. You can hide in the shade, swim in the sea, and not worry about someone stealing your mobile like on overcrowded beaches. Here, you're almost alone in the water – and we were here during the busiest season. You can even swim to a taverna of your choice, with plenty nearby. Maria is the most perfect host you can imagine: friendly, helpful, and professional.

María is a very friendly ,kind and welcoming person. Make you feel at home. The apartments are confortable and with all what you need to enjoy your stay in Kalives. Since few years i stay there when i come to Crete. Nice atmosphere,beautifull enjoyable garden just steps from the beach, the sound of the sea, the calm área and short walk to centre of the town...short nice walk to many shops, minimarkets,bakery,butcher, pharmacy, tavernas, and anything you need...just in front there's a main supermarket which is very practical...great place!

Most welcome host ever! Beautiful location, authentic, the real Greece, away from mass tourism, sea on the doorstep, beautiful garden with many seating areas, beautiful surroundings half an hour's drive from Chania and Chania airport. Supermarket across the street. Good parking nearby. nice small town with many restaurants.

“Clean, cool apartment beside beach”

Our rooms were clean and well equipped and only a few metres from the beach. Each had an outside seating area. The shady garden is quiet and relaxing - perfect for an afternoon nap or an leisurely meal under the trees. The rooms were cleaned regularly and Maria was always nearby to answer any questions. We had a really enjoyable stay and lovely family walks on the beach. There are several tavernas and bars within a few minutes’ walk, and the main Kalives supermarket is across the road.

Beach in the back yard of Maria’s property is awesome. Maria’s hospitality was too good.

Maria's place was my favourite. We searched something close to the sea and away from city centre. Everything was great, Maria is so kind and warm person. If I have to rent a room again, I"d choose Maria anytime.

Maria was lovely and the property was great, with the backgarden continuing on the beach and sea. The room was clean and both checkin and checkout were easy. Place is apx 30 min away from airport by car.
