“Great location. Basic but good!”

Lovely location. Very helpful owner even though English was not spoken. He was very helpful and made sure we were happy. He was a great guide and really went out of his way to find the animals I wanted to photograph. He was VERY patient with me as I take macro images and was glad he gave me the time to do this. He was very kind and understanding when my husband was very poorly and couldn't come on the walk with us. It was a great location to drive into the NP car park and just look for wildlife outside the park, in the car park. Loved finding the mini ant praying mantis.

We loved our stay at Sunil. It is located beautifully in nature, close to Sinharaja. We felt very welcomed by Sunil and Roshini. The food was great and we also very much enjoyed Sunil's bird guiding. He is very knowledgeable!

This came as a delightful surprise. The room is simple but had all we needed and the hospitality was a real joy. Sunil and his wife treated us as honoured guests and we felt very privileged to share their home for a couple of days. The home-cooking was first class and we were particularly touched that Mrs Sunil got up at 3am to make our picnic breakfast which Sunil carried for us to the rain forest. He guided us for 6 hours and showed us many animals we would have missed on our own. He is an excellent bird guide and a lovely host. It was a very memorable stay

“Simple stay in nature with good home cooked food”

A very simple, but with all you need for a stay close to nature. A bit more expensive than other places we've stayed, but the home cooked meals (not advertised but they'll happily feed you!) made up for that. Sunil was already booked as a guide for the other guests he had so if you are planning to go into the forest reserve, make sure to arrange in advance. Not a problem for us, but he would likely know plenty of other guides if needed.

You have your own private stay in a separate building to the family home. The outlook is beautiful and there are lots of birds to see. Mr Sunil’s spirit of adventure!

Incredibly friendly people, great food, nice room in a beautiful rural setting. Sunil is a retired Sinharaja park guide who even took me to a nearby place to find a rare owl. So nice!!

Sunil and his family were so accommodating. They cooked delicious Sri lankan food for us throughout our short stay. Sunil coordinated a day walk into the rainforest with a guide who was great at explaining the flora and fauna. The room we stayed in didn't have wifi, but it was perfect for getting away from any busy town and tech because it overlooked a beautifully kept rice paddy and the rainforest mountains. You need to stay here if you're looking for authentic and tranquil.

After a hike through the rainforest with Sunil we were welcomed into his house by the family and Sunil’s wife presented us with a fabulous meal . Similarly , the following morning , after a very early start we hiked in the forest and saw most of the birds we had wanted to see . Sunil is an excellent guide - enthusiastic and very knowledgeable . We were then treated to a great breakfast at Sunil’s house .

We really appreciated our time at Sunil’s place, the view was amazing and you are surrounded by jungle. The first night he took us on a night walk to look out for wildlife ! We had dinners, lunches and breakfasts with his family and every meal was different and so delicious ! We visited Sinharaja with Sunil, he is a famous bird guide in the area and we weren't disappointed by his eye for wildlife. He is incredible ! His knowledge and understanding of the bird sounds is crazy. We walked for about 14 kms and saw many lizards, snakes, birds, dragonflies, butterflies and monkeys. We shared a lovely time together, being connected with nature and wildlife. We really recommend this place for those who love wildlife. Thank you so much for our stay !

The beautifull location and the very tastefull homemade food. Sunil allready has 32 years experience in the park and knows a lot. He and his family are very friendly and do their best to give you a good time.

New room, nice and clean, terrace with beautiful views to the field and forest, Hot shower, good dinner! Sunil works at the national park and Will help orginizing everything and can even be your guide! Great staying with them :)
