True Japanese experience, room wise. Was quite when we were there, probably busy in the high season. Large breakfast selection.

Our first time at Kaga-Onsen, and was glad that we chose to stay at Katayamazu Onsen Kasuikyo. The rooms offer a sweeping view of Lake Shibayama, framed by Mount Hakusan in the distance – extremely picturesque, and memorable. The private outdoor bath in the room was comfortably-sized, and having a soak whilst overlooking the lake with ducks, or at the full-moon after dark, was such a dream. The kaiseki dinners were a true highlight – seasonally unique and scrumptious. We'd definitely choose to be back! As the shuttle buses to and from the JR Kaga-Onsen station operate only within certain blocks within the day, we'd definitely opt for a rental car when we return, so we can better explore the region. Looking forward to returning again!

I love my room overlooking the lake but I believe all the rooms in the hotel offer lake views. The sunrise was magnificent. The location is superb as well because I could pretty much walk around all the major attractions nearby. The kaiseki ryori dinner was sumptuous and tasty and the staff always courteous and helpful. The onsen was a treat after a busy day of sightseeing. I made a mistake in my booking and had to have an upgrade at the very last minute which was my own fault. My room is big enough for probably a whole family of 4 but I only have myself to blame.

The hotel was gorgeous. I really enjoyed having my own personal bath on the balcony. The staff were welcoming on my arrival and were very helpful.

I stayed in the "ship" (舟) building of the hotel. The hotel is spacious, nicely decorated and well-maintained. The buffet breakfast has a wide range of choices. My room was huge, and it has a splendid view of Lake Shibayama and the Ukimido Temple. There is a long electrical power strip provided in the room, which also provides USB charging. There is also a neck massager. The public bath of the hotel has indoor & outdoor baths, is very quiet and faces Lake Shibayama. There are free welcome drinks and ice popsicles provided. The staff didn't seem to understand English well, but are very friendly and helpful - expressing Omotenashi. During check-in, they'll also ask you for details that complete your stay, like when to bring down the Futon, cleaning the room and booking for the shuttle bus across the next days. It was thoughtful, since the resort is 3km from Kagaonsen station and the area does not have much public transport options. Before travelling to this hotel, I suggest making a reservation for the shuttle bus and sending your luggage beforehand.

Views are good

Location was perfect with lovely lake views. Breakfast was extensive with some a couple of western dishes too. Staff were very nice. Outdoor onsen pool was nice as not so hot as the indoor one.
