The Palisades Stewardship Education Centre is 48 km from HI Athabasca Falls. This is a back-to-basics wilderness hostel - We now have 2 private rooms, 2 mixed dorms, no showers, and no flush toilets. The Fryatt Valley and Athabasca Pass are easily accessed from the hostel offering cross-country skiing, hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Horseshoe and Leech Lake are also nearby for excellent swimming. Great location, great staff, rustic and comfortable amenities.

The property was in a lovely spot close to nature. The fire pit was sensational. Lots of laughs and good times. Even saw the northern lights. The hosts T and Lou were superb, very helpful and social.

There isn't anything to not like! I had such a great stay here and Jeff is so friendly, kind, helpful and really nice! The beds are comfy, the facilities are great, takes everything back to basics but in such a good way. Everyone that comes and stays has a great vibe and are there for the love of the Rockies. I cannot wait to come back!!

It is a hostel, but of a very good standard. I appreciated the possibility of using the common room where everything needed for cooking was. It was nice to spend an evening with people travelling around Canada in the same room. No need to worry.

The Perfect Basecamp for Mountain Adventures

A very warm and welcoming hostel in the wild that makes you forget it's off grid by how well organized and maintained it is. You don't have to relinquish much comfort thanks to their solar-powered system. The common room and kitchen is very well equipped and homy.
