Due to cancelled flights we had to unexpectedly extend our stay in Zanzibar, and choosing Spice Island Hotel turned out to be the best decision we could have made. Before arriving here we had stayed in two other hotels on the island, but this one was truly exceptional. Everything about the place exceeded our expectations. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and luxurious, and the cleanliness is at a true European standard. The atmosphere is peaceful, elegant and very welcoming. What impressed us the most, however, was the incredible hospitality. Everyone – from the staff to the owners – was extremely kind, attentive and genuinely caring. We were travelling as a family with our 4-year-old daughter and felt completely comfortable. The pool is wonderful, the food is delicious and diverse, and the whole place has such a warm and relaxing feeling. We arrived quite stressed because of the cancelled flights and the uncertainty about our trip, but staying here made us feel calm and truly at home. A very special thank you to Tatyana and her wonderful family for their kindness, care and hospitality. They made our unexpected extra days in Zanzibar truly special. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar and we would absolutely love to come back again.

“A relaxing & pleasant stay”

A lovely resort with spacious rooms, lush vegetation & relaxing easy vibes. The pool was refreshing with lots of loungers spread around or near the pool. I particularly enjoyed the Jetti bar which had a fantastic view of the sea. The food at the restaurant was good. I enjoyed the salads particularly. Breakfast was good too with a set menu to pick from. I appreciated that the chef was willing to adjust breakfast requests for dietary needs and preferences. I mentioned to my server how much i loved mango, and each morning a little plate of sliced mango appeared.

Amazing location, right on the beach with an amazing large pool with enough private space around it. The botanical gardens make everything pretty. It feels like a small paradise! Security is perfect, especially for a female solo traveller this was amazing. At the gate and and the beach good patrol and all personal is very friendly. Good food and cocktails. Would definetly recommend!!

“Little piece of paradise”

The beach front is a great space to relax and as its not directly on the beach feels very private with lots of sunloungers and a short walk down a few steps and you on the beach and in the ocean.The swimming pool is very big and lots of space for everyone with sun lounges and umbrellas.Food at the restaurant is good,we booked half board and breakfast and dinner were fantastic we never left feeling like more.There are a few other restaurants to try a short walk down the beach.The resort also has its own jetty with a bar at the end of the jetty that is great for sundowners.The restaurant staff,managers and reception were so friendly and nothing was to much for them.There are taxis/tuk tuks running all day on the main road behind the hotel that can take you to Paje or Jambiani.All in all a great stay and will defintely be back.

“Comfortable stay”

The room and bathroom was clean. The pool was also clean and enjoyed hanging out there. They also have a Getty bar, which was a great spot to chill and watch the tide coming in, have drinks and even play music and dance Location next to paje beach where there kite surfing and other water activities We were celebrating 2 birthdays and we got 2 cakes and a bottle of champagne which was really great- shout out to Tatu for organising this

I liked the staff...very sociable and friendly. The drinks were really good and the scenery is as in the photos.

“Greate place to relax”

Very good location in quite neighbourgood at the beach, close to couple restaurants, nice cozy and clean bungalows, nice staff

I absolutely loved everything about the Spice Island Hotel. It is right in front of the beach and offers breathtaking views. Perfect place if you want tranquility and to recharge. For the first two days I didn't go anywhere. The staff is very friendly and made me feel at home. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed with a glass of juice and dinner was great as well.

“Simply paradise.”

Our kids had the time of their lives and the adults also had the best time. The restaurant is amazing, the breakfasts are epic, the rooms are modern and beautifully designed with comfy beds. The pool is uber clean and massive. The beach is the best and the onsite kite surfing school is amazing. Simon does a great job running the joint and we can’t wait to return to paradise.

It was our last minute choice but a good one. The room was big, comfortable bed, very clean. Stuff was welcoming.
