Our experience at Mulata was awful. Where do I begin. The room we stayed in wasn’t the best. There was black mould all over the sink and no hot water at all for our entire stay. There were constantly insect droppings falling from the roof all over one side of the main bed so my partner and I had to sleep in seperate beds. The food and drinks are exorbitantly expensive. Around 80,000 cop for a meal and 45,000 cop for a cocktail. It’s pretty isolated so alternative options for food are very limited. We managed to eat once at Hamaquero which was much cheaper. Half the items on the already limited food menu were unavailable. We ate the same 2 dishes for basically 4 days straight, lunch and dinner. Each day, boat loads of day tripping tourists come to the hotel for a day party, they play really loud music and get drunk. After they leave, the 2 small salt water pools are really dirty and since there is pretty much no access to the ocean, your only option for a nice swim is in the morning before the crowds arrive. During our stay I got really sick and had to spend a day staying close to the toilet. We asked the hotel staff to replace our toilet paper 3 times and they didn’t do it. We had to get our own. We also asked them to clean our room multiple times, they even offered to clean it at one stage, but it never happened. In a 4 night stay! We were the only guests staying in the entire place! At the end of our stay we were presented with a bill for all the drinks and food we had, plus some of the accommodation (some of it was paid upfront) and my partner also had a massage. They added a 10% service charge to the entire bill, including the accommodation! As if it wasn’t already expensive enough. They must think their guests are billionaires. We refused to pay it. It’s sad because some of the staff who we interacted with were really lovely and helpful, and normally I would have wanted to tip them but the bill was already so expensive that we just couldn’t afford it.

Welcoming, relaxing and more home-ish then hotel-ish.. Which I really liked.

I loved everything about the property! The room, the staff, the salt water pools, the hammocks, the food. Amazing! Hidden gem on a hidden island. If you are lucky enough to stumble upon this place, book it straight away! Possible to arrange activities if requested. Highly recommend a tour through the mangroves. Special thanks to Jorge who really take great care of me! Amazing service and company! Hope to come back again soon!
