“Happy stay at Hakataplus”

Amazing view from our room. Excellent access and storage for cyclists doing the Shimanami Kaido. Everything was modern and spotlessly clean. Cooking, bathroom and living/sleeping area all cleverly designed to fit into a compact space. Best of all were the friendly couple who proudly operate it and offer delicious local iced orange juice on our hot arrival. They have homemade marmalade for sale too! The beach across the road is perfect for swimming. There is a Lawson's shop nearby for supplies. Highly recommended.

Hakata plus is a gem. Easy to find opposite the Hakata SC Park. Kind and generous hosts who welcomed us with a cold drink and let us in early. Allowed us to do a wash at no charge. Booked us dinner which was great. Salt ice cream delicious. And tried to give us a farewell drink as well. They even gave us a gift. Highly recommend staying here. It was a perfect break along the Shimanami Trail. Beach front, palm trees and a few options for dining. Lovely juices and ice cream. And a cute wee jam shop too.

“The perfect location and the nicest hosts”

You cannot go wrong staying at this ideally located establishment, whether you just need a stop along the Shimanami Kaido or want to visit the neighboring islands like I did. The room itself was quiet, clean, comfortable and practical, with everything you could ever need to cook, eat, sleep or relax. The shower has good water pressure and is a godsend after a long day of cycling. Everything felt new and the view of the beach is very nice, especially at sunset. The building is ideally located and easy to find. The beach is literally across the road and the convenience store, bus stop and bicycle rental place are all a few minutes away on foot. Finally, the hosts are the nicest people you could hope for. They were incredibly helpful and generous throughout my stay, I cannot thank them enough for making an already amazing experience even better. I'd rate this 12 out of 10 if I could !

“Great location and very comfortable stay!”

The host went above and beyond, giving us a housemade orange drink on arrival and comprehensive tips on restaurants in the area. I was super impressed with the amount of attention to detail inside guesthouse. All the appliances were new and we had everything we needed and more. The location was close to the beach and had a direct seaview where you can see the sunrise. Would recommend staying here!

“Fabulous, much better than expected”

The accommodation was outstanding - it had everything you need for a night’s stay all packed into a compact space. It was the best stocked for utensils, plates and kitchen equipment of any of the places we have stayed so far. The Lawson down the street was handy. There was also a bonus of being able to do a load of washing which helped during our hot sweaty bike ride. The lovely hosts were so helpful and friendly - the iced citrus drink on arrival was fabulous. The icing on the cake was the location and view.

Very clean, well appointed room, very welcoming and helpful hosts, delicious welcome drink and other jams etc sold at the shop. The view and location is perfect when cycling the islands.

Good Location

Very friendly owner couple who went out of their way to settle us in, a family room with all facilities (except a double bed) and a wonderful view from the room. Spacious and with all the Japanese touches.

“Warm, friendly stay and fantastic hosts.”

Amazing location looking right over Hakata Beach. View from our room was spectacular. We were greeted warmly by our hosts with freshly squeezed juice (so good after a while day of cycling!). Given a mini tour of our room: complete with kotatsu and futon. The kitchenette was great, the beds were super comfortable and the nozzle in the shower was the best one in our 3.5 week tour of Japan. We loved this place!! Our hosts made us feel so welcome. Would recommend this to everyone who does the Shimanami Cycle route!

“A welcoming retreat”

The owners were so welcoming and kind, the weather was wet and miserable and we were met with warm lemon drink and towels to dry off. They booked us a place for dinner and even helped us dry our saturated shoes! This kind of welcome was so above our expectations.

“Best Accommodation in Japan that I have ever been to”

1) This is my 2nd repeat Booking here at Hakata Plus+, once was in 2024, now it is 2026. Highly recommended. Out of all my visits to any part of Japan, I remembered them the most as they always make us feel so welcomed and so at home. 2) Very cool (かっこいい) owners. Very friendly. Very helpful. 3) Their fruit juices are the best. 4) Them offering to make dinner reservations for us elevated our Hakatajima experience, where we do not face rejections when we go without reservation or, we do not face a closed restaurant when we go late while following Google Maps timings. 5) Very bicycle friendly. 6) (Spring) After learning we went to view only 1% bloom Sakura trees by our own, the lady boss gave us a recommendation for full bloom Sakura tree viewing at Omishima, we cycled there and saw the beauty before coming back before sunset. 7) The free snacks they provided in the room are always tasty!!! 8) They gave us farewell gift paper fan. It helped so much in early autumn where it's mega hot. 9) Room size is good for 3 people.

The owners were really kind and thoughtful, on arrival we were given a refreshing drink and they even booked our dinner plans, and provided us a lift there. The room was spacious and very nice.

“My best stay in Japan”

This was probably one of the greatest stays in Japan. Kei and his wife are wonderful and kind hosts: so accommodating and caring. They made this experience superb. From the check-in to helping with the carry-out order and a pick-up at the nearby restaurant. The place itself is very spacious and is set up as traditional Japanese bedroom with adjacent bathroom and a small kitchen. I can definitely recommend this place!

Hosts really friendly gave us a good dinner recommendation and even drove us to the restaurant, had a lovely nights stay on our cycling route.

“Awesome place with lovely sea view”

The owner and his wife was really friendly & helpful. We arrived late in the evening after a full day of cycling and we were immediately greeted with complimentary fresh oranges and a hot cut of honey lemon tea. They even helped us pre-booked a nearby restaurant for dinner which was definitely a plus! We would highly recommend anyone to stay here if you are cycling from Onomichi to Imabari (The Shimanami Kaido route).

The coziness and cleanliness of the room, and the hospitality and kindness of the hosts. They were brilliant!

Good location on the blue line. Host helped to book nice restaurant for dinner and gave us a souvenir. Fruits were provided which was very thoughtful. We could see a beautiful sunset from our window or the beach in front.
