What a fantastic place! Akira and Rei gave us a beautiful welcome and helped us dry off after getting hit by a downpour right before arriving on our bikes. The house was perfect for what we needed, especially the toys for kids which our 3 year old adored. Our 10 year old loved the world map and the chess set. 10 out of 10- we would love to return one day!!

“Beautiful home in a stunning location”

Beautiful location right on the beach in a very quiet place. The owner are absolutely amazing and gave us local information that can only be found by talking to people who live in the area.

Akira and Rei were lovely welcoming hosts. They clearly care about this place and making it feel as homey and cozy as possible. They are very thoughtful and kind people. There were many small touches that made our stay feel very personal, like the warm welcome towels and tea when we arrived, pyjamas they left for us to wear, and the postcards they gave us to mail back home (prepaid and with instructions). It felt like going to stay at an uncle/aunts house and we felt exceptionally welcomed. The location on the shimanami kaido and the included bike parking made it an ideal spot for us as cyclists. There is also beach access where we were able to see one of the most beautiful sunsets ever.

“Quirky & fun, authentic family beach-house”

We arrived by bike (one adult, 2 teens) and stayed one night at Guesthouse Yadokari on Ōmisha island on the shimanami kaido route. After a hot day cycling we cooled off by swimming in the sea at the beach right behind the house. The lovely hosts Akira & Rei came to meet us on arrival and showed us all the amenities (the house has everything!), including giving us little gifts and making us tea! We accidentally left a jacket at the house which Rei found and was happy to post to our next accommodation. Really appreciated! Thank you!

“Traditional Japanese house on the waters edge”

Meeting the owners on arrival to run through the facilities and just how cleaned and well presented everything was.

I had a really cozy night. Though it was tired and hard to reach the Kirosan Observatory. I had a really great rest that night. Shooting photos of the sky, having tea in the dining room. The most enjoyable thing was the photography album. I really enjoyed everything I see in Guesthouse Yadokari. The atmosphere in Guesthouse Yadokari had me sleep really well. I felt really energetic in the following morning.

Absolutely lovely house with so many character and warmth. We enjoyed finding cute little things all around the house and small ways the hosts decorated the house. It's evident how much love and care they put into this house. It felt like a treasure hunt staying in this house. The view of the sea from the kitchen left a strong impression on me. Weeks later, I still often remember it. Overall, everything was perfect. I personally have not met hosts because we were still cycling when our other friends arrived but they were absolutely charmed by the host couple. Also, all communication was super easy and fast with them. Would love to come stay there again!!

The couple who run the place were incredibly kind, the house itself is amazing (clean, many fun little hidden statues) and lots of extra facilities like goggles for snorkeling, free tea and coffee, books (manga) to read also in English! We wish we could've stayed here for longer!

We had the best time in the Guesthouse Yadokari! Rei and Akira are so welcoming and helpful. We felt at home directly! The guesthouse is really cool and furnished with a lot of heart and small funny details :-) We loved our stay there!

Everything was great. The communication with the Host, the warm welcoming, the house, the beach... We would love to come back again!!

Loved everything about this place! Firstly, it’s a lovely older Japanese house that’s kept its old charm but has a modern and fully stocked kitchen. The owners, Ray and Akira, speak English and are the kindest souls. There’s sliding screens with modern anime style prints, a Harry Potter chess set and other sweet little quirks. But the best pet is walking up to see the sea and mountains covered in mist.

“A great stay in a traditional Japanese house, a good stopover when doing the Shimanami cycling route”

Location was close to the cycleway and there was a restaurant nearby. It was right on the beach and in a quiet area. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming and took their time showing us through the house.
