“Fantastic experience!”

The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. Went out of their way to make sure everything was smooth from arrival to local tips about restaurants, ski passes and the mountain itself. The ski room with boot dryers and tools to work on the gear was great. The atmosphere around the property was felt warm and relaxed, perfect for unwinding and disconnecting. Location is a bit out of the main village which gives it that much more peaceful vibe. Rooms are clean and have everything needed for comfortable stay.

The property was amazing. Set high up on the mountain with the most magnificent view of the valley and surrounding mountain range. It was so clean and the hot tub room was a real treat after a long day of snowboarding. The communal fire place was also great to sit around and have a few drinks. Takeshi the owner was so friendly. Nothing was ever a problem. He was so reliable with dropping you up to the ski slopes and picking you up when you had finished for the day.

Taky and his wife were truly exceptional hosts! Welcoming, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. They assisted us with every aspect of our trip, including arranging luggage shipping to and from Madarao, guiding us on the best way to travel from Tokyo, and recommending where to rent gear and purchase lift passes. Their local knowledge made everything seamless and stress-free. One of the highlights was that Taky kindly drove us to the slopes every day, which made our ski experience even more enjoyable and convenient. That level of hospitality really set this stay apart. The pension itself is in a fantastic location with beautiful views, and the rooms were lovely, comfortable, and well maintained and were the perfect place to relax after a day on the mountain. Overall, an outstanding experience with hosts who genuinely care about their guests. We would absolutely stay here again!

Everything was wonderful. The apartment and property were spotlessly clean The food in the restaurant was delicious And most importantly, Taky and his wife were wonderful hosts, who helped us with whatever we needed. Also driving us back and forth to the main ski area

“The stay exceeded our expectations, was very relaxing with an incredible view.”

The breakfasts were amazing, so fresh and different every morning. We had dinner each evening, this was also home cooked and very fresh. The location was very handy to the ski slopes. We just needed to ring the bell and were taken to the slopes the same at the end of the day just needed to message.

Apartment was lovely and the shared space for meals and relaxing was also nice. The food we had here was fantastic, and the host Taky was great. Friendly, helpful and made everything so easy for us. We hope to come back to Madarao again and if we do, we will definitely rebook.

Owner Takeshi-san and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful. They made our stay very comfortable, and food was simple, but delicious. Thankfully, he could offer a car for us to rent so we could get around to other areas to ski or to get food, as food options in Madarao was quite limited. Overall, an amazing place to stay!

Comfortable and clean with a traditional flavor, a small family run business in a pretty location. Taki and Kimi are very friendly and helpful and provided a shuttle to the slopes, restaurants etc.

Staff were amazing and the pension is so clean and neat. Great common area and the meals that you can have cooked by the staff was amazing.

Wonderful lodge style apartment run by a lovely Japanese couple. We had a lovely view overlooking the valley and mountains. Do take advantage of the restaurant as the owners are fantastic cooks. Except for a few nights, we organised both breakfast and dinner and were so pleased that we did as it made for a very relaxing ski holiday. This was our first time skiing in Japan (although experienced skiers), and our host, Takeshi was so obliging driving us to and from the slopes and helping us with any questions.

Fantastic couple who owns & runs the Hotel. Limited rooms so it’s nice and quiet!

The owner Takeshi does everything for you like a concierge service. He'll drive you to ski slopes and pick you up and organise lift passes too. Amazing service. Room was warm and clean with a comfortable bathroom and well equipped kitchenette. The view was amazing!

Everything. Taki was very accomodating, even met us on arrival at 2am! Apartment was spacious, very clean and warm. He supplied daily breakfast and dinner when we requested, great food and service from the bar. Cosy communal lounge room with fire place to relax in. Easy to communicate with and daily drop off and pick up from ski fields. Couldn’t have asked for anything else.
