“Great stay in traditional Japanese house”
The house is approximately 150 years old and has been nicely refurbished. All in all we had a great stay! Since we were only 2 persons, we did not mind that there is only one large sleeping room. Due to the old building structure, you obviously hear everything that is going on outside (cars, people talking, etc.) but we did not feel disturbed by it, since it was quiet at night and we could have a good nights sleep. The Mimitsu neighbourhood is just beautiful, calm and we only experienced friendly people there!

It's a beautiful old house in the middle of an old beautiful coastal town. The house is still in its original state with old sliding doors, tatami's etc. The Bathroom is updated and very nice, so is the kitchen. The garden is great but we did not use it in winter. The village has a really nice Izakaya, the food it great.

“Really not great”
The building is in traditional Japanese style. It is great for the experience if you never seen it. It is located in a small village with wonderful people. Everyone is kind and open. Young people try to engage in English, old people talk in Japanese without any consideration about nationality. A welcome change to the anonymity of Tokyo. It looks like you can go swimming in the ocean in summer. Hyuga is 10min by car.

“The most delightful accomodation in the most friendly town in Japan.”
We did not expect this place to be so traditional. The town and the accomodation were very unexpectedly amazing. When the description said a two bedroom villa we did not expect the most beautiful old Japanese house we have ever seen (with modern amenities). The neighbourhood was so helpful when we had trouble getting the keys and again when we found three abandoned kittens in our accomodation. we had such a lovely time.

“Great place to stay while exploring Mimitsu!”
We LOVED staying here. It is such a beautiful house, and our children loved pretending to be samurai in the old style house. The bath was beautiful and so relaxing. Mimitsu is a gorgeous place and feels untouched by tourism and definitely off the beaten path. I wish we had booked more than one night. Kitchen was well-equipped and everything was very clean. The hosts have done an excellent job renovating the space while preserving the history all around. Futons were comfortable.
