“Well equiped and calm cabin, close to Husavik”

Very calm (absolutely no noise next to the airport) and terrace to enjoy. Good facilities and host very reactive when a question about electricity and fuses. Huge DVD collection if you wanted !

The cabin was well equipped. It was just about big enough for a group of four anglers fishing the river Laxa. The surroundings are lovely.

“Great place for exploring from and actually built on an old lava field”

This old family summerhouse has beautiful snow-topped mountain and lava field views and is very well located for whale watching from Husavik and doing day trips around and within the stunning landscapes of the Diamond Circle. It's really built on an old lava field. The owner (who lives elsewhere) was responsive to queries before booking and after arrival. And, contrary to previous reviews, there were NO flies to speak of (no midges and about three houseflies) and NO flights at all (from the adjacent airfield) during the time we were there (four nights in June). The cabin is warm and well equipped although some of the appliances are ageing. We enjoyed staying there.

“Northern Lights in early September - Awesome!!”

This is a truly fabulous place, completely dark and quiet, and we were incredibly privileged to see the northern lights for three September nights on the trot, getting brighter each night. The cabin is well-equipped, and we very much enjoyed our stay. We did not use the BBQ or outdoor heaters but they were there if we had wished to use them. We went whale watching, and GeoSea (hubby not sure if he fancied it, but we went when it opened and it was lovely and quiet. Very nice spa as it is sea water and so does not smell like sulphur... in case the smell bothers you. Hubby agreed afterwards that it was a highlight of our holiday).

“Lovely stay at the cabin”

Spacious and cozy cabin, two bedrooms, can house 4 adults and 2 kids in my opinion. We did not use the outside space, but it looked nice and plenty of games, dvds and so on at your disposal. The rooms are small but comfortable. It has everything you need. We also made use of the washing machine which was super practical. Well located. Overall a lovely stay.

“A very comfortable cabin close to Husavik.”

The location is isolated but surrounded by trees but close to Husavik. The cabin has everything you need and we wish we could have stayed longer and that it had been a bit warmer so we could have made use of the fantastic veranda. The kitchen has all facilities needed and the house is very comfortable. It has a shed with a washing machine and there is a rack to dry your clothes. We very much enjoyed the stay but the only negative is that we had to make up our own beds ( we arrived late so this is quite a hassle when you are tired from travelling) and that you are expected to clean the whole property before leaving. The problem by this is that the property is not left amazingly clean as I did when we left as we had to clean the fridge and wipe some other things at arrival. I expect to keep a property clean anywhere, but having to hoover, mop etc is just too much when you have to travel again that same day. I therefore could not give it full marks. I also feel that the list sent by the owner with things you have to do before leaving is not very personal and feels detached. However, we had a very nice stay.

“Very disappointing stay at Cabin in the Lava”

The sofa was very comfortable and the wifi worked well. The area was quiet despite its proximity to the airport (few planes but you can hear them when they arrive or depart). The kitchen was well equipped and it was great to have a washing machine.

“A true Icelandic experience!”

A great Icelandic experience! This cottage in the middle of nowhere is absolutely cozy and charming. It was wonderful to watch Friends episodes before going to sleep, and to wake up in perfect silence, surrounded by nature. As a family of 4 adults and a toddler, it was perfect, clean and safe. Our son enjoyed playing on the sofa and pulling down all the DVD boxes. Very well organized without meeting the hosts. We hope to come back soon!
