SleepIn FÆNGSLET is located in the former Horsens State Prison and offers accommodation in former prison cells. The rooms still have bars on the windows and original cell radios, which give an authentic atmosphere. There is room for 1–4 people in each of the 22 cells, where you sleep in true prison style in bunk beds. The exception is the bridal suite, which pampers with a double bed. Bath and toilet are in the corridors and there is access to a communal kitchen and a sofa area. Free WiFi is offered throughout. The unique hostel is located side by side with Northern Europe's largest prison museum. Here, guests can enter a closed world and discover life behind bars – including the spectacular 18-metre-long escape tunnel. The PRISON also houses a gift shop and a café. Horsens Station is less than 2 km away, and the nearest airport is Billund Airport, 45 km from SleepIn.

Place was exactly like I imagined, it's an experience ! As one would expect from a cell room, it's small, but again it's exactly what you'd expect. Room was really clean, the beds were comfortable. The shared bathroom was ok, again as you'd expect for a shared bathroom in a jail building. The shared kitchen useful as well, and well stuffed. Staff was ultimatelly useful for late checkin, though arrived on site without knowing if we'd be able to actually get in the room as no instructions were received/communicated (e.g. through booking messaging) prior to arrival. But in the end, all good, check in super fast, really enjoyed the stay, would definitely recommend to anyone looking forward to experiencing such unusual accomodation !

The surrounding buildings and area were very nice, giving a unique experience to the stay. We were willing to sacrifice comfort in exchange for the experience, but the comfort was worse than our already low expectations. Mattress was very thin, bedding must be made up yourself, room was already unlocked and cold upon arrival and the bathroom is shared. We were told the charge for a dog is 35 DKK over the phone but this was later charged as 200 DKK.

It gives the creeps - the stories of the prisoners in the rooms and the bars behind the windows do the trick. It's simple as a prison cell can be, but the whole hostel is superbly clean. Good value for money.

It’s a special place, with a history. And you see that the history is respected, also in the interior of the building. In this place, you get good value for money, and what you see is what you get.

The only thing they should improve is to put basic services avaible for the guests, like hairdryers. I asked for an hairdryer at the reception and they hadn't got one to give me.
