Unfortunately, the room was quite old and not very well maintained. You could hear everything from outside, and the shower had to run for about 10 minutes before the water got warm. The room was not very clean, the mattresses were dirty and old, and unfortunately, there were bedbugs — I was bitten several times. After four days, I was moved to a better room and received one free dinner, but there was no reduction in the price despite the situation. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Location is great, the terrace and restaurant are very nice to sit, staff is friendly. I was scared for a cold shower due to reviews, but I had great hot showers! I would probably come back again, mainly due to the friendly staff and nice hangout spots

Great location with beautiful view. We very much enjoyed the sauna and the hot tub. Abondant breakfast with some black forest specialties. Nice terrace and lobby with relaxed atmosphere and chill music.

Really nice vibe from a refurbished old guest house with a cozy modern note. We had an amazing relaxing stay. Highly recommended to have a look at the history of the building and the reasoning behind the old and the new design

There is a living room perfect to read and look at the books they have. Super!! Good breakfast with a lot of fresh things. The location is very bucolic and nice.

The hotel we stayed at was truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of a forest, surrounded by lush greenery and a small waterfall, offering a peaceful and serene environment. The location made it an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The on-site restaurant exceeded our expectations with its friendly and welcoming staff, along with a delightful menu that both adults and kids thoroughly enjoyed. It was the perfect spot for a family meal. We also took day trips to the Rhine Waterfalls and Tirisse Lakes, both of which were accessible via scenic routes from the hotel, making the journeys just as enjoyable as the destinations. Although the hotel itself is a bit old, it is well-maintained, preserving its charm while offering comfort and convenience. Overall, our stay was memorable, and we would recommend this hotel for families and nature lovers alike.

“The perfect place to stay”

I spent one night in DAS SCHÖNE LEBEN Hotel, and I really appreciated it! Travelling with my bicycle, I asked the staff to park it in a safe place, so they opened me the garage. Then, I chose to have dinner and tasted the delicious Black forest burger. All along, the staff was perfect. The room was spacious, clean, and with everything I needed for one night. The hotel is perfectly located near Hornberg, in the middle of the Black Forest. I definitely would have spent a few more nights to enjoy the sauna and the books.
