Overview
Set in a late 1800s wooden building, this countryside hotel is in Hindseter, 60 km from Otta. The hotel restaurant serves Nordic cuisine with local produce. Hindsæter has a wellness area, plus views of the Jothunheimen Mountains and Sjoa River. The rooms have a private bathroom with a shower. Binoculars can be borrowed from reception to try wildlife-spotting from the bedroom window. Other facilities include a lounge with fireplace, a sun terrace and lounge with views of the valley. WiFi is free in the lobby and in the lounge. Hiking trails and cross-country ski trails start from Hindsæter, and Lemonsjø Ski Centre is within 20 minutes’ drive. Guests can explore Jotunheimen National Park, just 5 km away.

“Perfect mountain retreat”
Second time at this hotel and hopefully not the last. Love the historic atmosphere and views. Stayed in an alp suite which was beautifully decorated with lots of seating space and very quiet. Great hikes direct from hotel including to a fabulous waterfall.

“Perfection in Jotunheimen”
The hotel is stunningly situated. The suites at the hotel are beautiful with lots of local and historical details. The lounge area with large windows facing the valley is great for chilling out with a local beer in the evening. We only had a short stay but we’re spoilt for choice on the number of hikes from the hotel- they were all well sign posted and we got good advice from reception. Breakfast was in the lovely historic dining room and used local produce. The whole place is very friendly and full of character. Can’t wait to go back!

“a real gem”
The hotel is a real gem! We stayed for a long weekend in winter and the activities they offer are great, snowshoeing, dog sledding, cross country skiing, and the great ice canyon walk. We stayed in one of the apl suites, both cozy and tasteful interior with historical and local details. Good breakfast and fantastic dinner. Looking forward to coming back...
