Authentic Japanese house and living experience. We were honoured to be able to stay in this sort of property during our visit to Japan. John and his partner gave us some great advice about tours and local restaurants and were very friendly. The house exceptionally clean.

Beautiful traditional house. My don and I stayed in a Tanami room. The host ensured a beautiful breakfast every morning. If we come back through Himeji again we will use John's House as a base. John is fluent in both Japanese and English and his knowledge is great surrounding Japanese culture and have us a great in sight.

It is a privilege to spend a night in a traditional Japanese house. John’s and Masami’s is lovingly restored and tastefully decorated. It is an exceptional experience to stay in their Machiya. I loved the beautiful sleeping quarters, the bathhouse, the lovely Japanese garden and the large living room with air conditioning. John and Masami are warm and lovely hosts who made our stay in Himeji very special.
