Overview
The family-owned Hótel Lækur is set on an Icelandic horse farm, between the Golden Circle and the south coast. Hella is 10 minutes’ drive away. It offers a sun terrace and a guest lounge. The bright, modern rooms feature wooden floors and private bathrooms. Some include either a terrace or balcony. The surrounding views take in the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes. A simple à la carte menu is available in Lækur Hótel’s summer restaurant. Meals during the winter can be ordered in advance. Guests may be lucky enough to experience the Northern Lights during their stay. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall is within 25 minutes’ drive, while Skógafoss Waterfall is a further 20 minutes away. Reykjavík is 100 km from Hótel Lækur.

Breakfast was great. Hot tub was a nice bonus with great views. Quiet location not far from the ring road. Being able to eat our evening meal there was helpful and everyone enjoyed their food.

“Lovely small hotel in a peaceful location not far from the main ring road”
Family run hotel that felt homely and not too crowded. Food is simple but tasty with a choice of mains at dinner. Location is in the middle of the countryside and peaceful - but still only around 10mins from main ring road. Rooms comfortable and staff very friendly. We loved the sauna, hot tub and of course the cold plunge barrel!

The hotel is in a good location, but also remote enough to be outside of the main road. The staff were very friendly and we loved playing with the dogs - they loved playing fetch with the snow! Breakfast was plentiful and we appreciated the sauna in cold winter evenings.

We stayed for one night and would definitely recommend the place. The room was nice, warm, and cozy, with a comfortable bed. The Wi-Fi was good. The breakfast buffet included both continental and hot options, as well as a selection of desserts. :) We were lucky enough to see the Aurora, which was amazing you just had to step outside your room, and it was right there! The staff were nice and helpful.

It was a small friendly family run hotel: we were upgraded to a cabin overlooking the river as there was a big group in the main building. The view was lovely and the cabin one of the best we have stayed in. Staff came and alerted us to the Northern Lights display. Excellent breakfast, although limited choice of evening meal.
