Fantastic stay! We absolutely loved our time at Maria Hau Cabanas, the room was perfect and in such an amazing location, right by the sea and close to town. Maria’s son greeted us at the airport and made sure we were looked after our whole trip, thank you for such an amazing time. Cannot recommend enough!

Maria's place was in the perfect location, near the coast a short walk from town. She picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. She was incredibly accommodating and addressed all of our needs. The cabana gets a little hot but there is a fan available if you ask. It makes a big difference to cool the place down.

“Beautiful cottages in a perfect location”

The cabañas maria hau are very recommendable! Everything was very clean, just as it appeared in the pictures. The 4 cottages come with a well equipped kitchen and are hidden in a beautiful garden full of flowers and with a lot of shade and privacy for each terrace. I was very glad that the windows are protected with moskito protection screens, so that we had no problems with flys or moskitos! Maria was so helpful with all questions we had at any time of the day. Additionally they picked us up and brought us to the airport. They even organised a guided tour for us from one day to the other, calling all guides they knew. We just felt like part of their family! I would defenitely come back to this beautiful gem on the isla de pascua!!!! Thank you so much Maria and Laura!

“A very hospitable stay- home away from home.”

It is a pretty little cottage surrounding a small garden with lots of flowering trees. The cottage is compact with beds, kitchenette and ensuite bathroom. There is a small grocery store within minutes and a road skirting the sea is within sight of the compound. The main centre of town is a 20 minute walk, but Hanga Roa is a very small compact place, pleasant and safe to walk around. The family live just next door. Maria was in Chile mainland during our stay. Her son Anibal picked us up from the airport with the traditional welcome garlands, showed us around a bit before taking us to the cottage. Maria's daughter-in-law Horeka came to check on us on later, sorted the remaining payments and made sure we had everything to be comfortable. It was quite warm in the nights, so she sorted a room fan. On the final day Horeka dropped us back at the airport and gave us farewell gifts of necklaces with wooden Moai lockets. We departed with warm hugs. It was not just the lovely cottage, but the warm hospitality of the family who make you feel like guests, not customers, which makes your stay on Rapa Nui so special.
