Gas and his team go out of their way to make their guests feel at home and have a good experience. The Bohemian's Shelter is warm, clean, comfortable, and has a homely feel. I appreciated (a) the free shuttle service, (b) the home cooked dinners, and (c) being able to interact with other skiers and snowboarders, to learn from their experience.

We absolutely loved our 2 week stay at The Bohemians Shelter. Gas and his staff went above and beyond to ensure all guests had the best stay. Our rooms, the common areas and amenities were always clean and the extra services provided eg shuttles, breakfast and dinners (dinners were a small cost but so worth it) were so convenient!

The owner Gas is a delightful host and so kind and thoughtful and welcoming and went out of his way to help his guests . I messaged him before we arrived with lots of questions and he replied promptly and his comments and suggestions were all so useful and helpful. While staying with Gas , we had some logistical issues and asked Gas for some suggestions and without any hesitation , he offered to drop our stuff off and that instantly solve our problem by his act kindness. Thank you so much Gas . It’s our first time skiing in Japan and trying to navigate the shuttle buses or get a taxi to the ski resorts is quite a challenge in the mornings. However, Gas has an incredibly well organised system of giving lifts to his guests to the ski resorts and at the end of the day a pickup schedule as well . We love that! And when we were there, he had a young , lovely couple Louie and El who cooked us an incredible teriyaki chicken dinner that was simply delicious ! Gas has a lovely property in a peaceful location and it’s warm and cosy and clean. We highly recommend staying at Bohemian Shelter and we would definitely stay with Gas again.

“Great hostel, nice vibe, very good value”

Excellent hostel, chilled vibe, multiple free daily shuttles to/from slopes and supermarket. Really good in house dinners at1300¥ and draught beer on tap for 500¥. Twin room was quite large. Gas the owner is super helpful, knows the area really well as he has spent 10 seasons there. Nice living and dining areas, Japanese bath and showers.

- The host is extremely well organised and helpful. The house runs smoothly - Dinners are delicious, healthy, varied, and reasonably priced - A warm, cosy, sociable atmosphere (more than most hostels nowadays) because everyone sits to have dinner together. The vibe is what made this trip memorable for me <3

Everything. The place was absolutely amazing. Everything we could have wished for and more. Secluded, private and so gorgeous. We definitely needed a car though.

“A cozy spot to enjoy winter in Hakuba”

We had an excellent stay at the Bohemian's Shelter thanks to Gas' warm welcome. We appreciated the included breakfast and the kitchen facilities (including beer on tap!), as well as the shuttle service to various ski resorts. The secluded location in the forest made for a relaxing, cozy stay.
