Situated in the mountain ranges of Hakone in the Sengokuhara Hot Springs region, Hakone Reatreat Före is a 50-minute bus ride from Odawara Station. “Wonderful respite from the city”
Gorgeous Japandi design. The restaurant in particular impressed not just for its architecture but also the quality of the food. One of the best breakfast buffets ever. Food was refined and freshly made. The gift of custom socks to guests was a nice quirky touch. Practical and memorable.

Excellent resort. Rooms were large and comfortable. They provided everything. Private onsen was incredible and buffet breakfast was fantastic. Also loved the cafe which was open for long hours.

“Fantastic experience”
Fantastic retreat with incredible surroundings and facilities. Beautiful location and great onsen. The staff were very friendly and inviting. Easy access to Gora and other sites on Hakone Loop. Supermarket and restaurants are a 15 minute walk away. Would definitely recommend this place.

“Perfect place to retreat and recharge”
Absolutely loved our stay. We were on the fence about upgrading to the room with the fireplace. It was the highlight of our winter stay! It had just snowed the day before our arrival and the scenery was picture-perfect. We didn't want to leave our room. I also appreciated in particular the amount of ambient light source and the high ceilings. Having many small floor and table lamps to choose from meant that we could adjust the lighting to fit our evening fireplace mood. Our early onsen visit was the perfect way to start the day. Even the path to get there that takes you through the woods set the ambiance so perfectly. And getting to soak while looking out at the snowy landscape and icicles was magical. Really, truly, a retreat! Wish we could have stayed longer.

“Beautiful stay in the mountains”
We had no expectation of this property as we booked on the day we were due to arrive. We caught the bus from Odawara all the way to the Venetian glass museum and the accommodation was just there. We walk 10m up the driveway only to be met by staff who ordered a car to collect us and take us and our baggage up the steep driveway. The room was lovely, beautifully heated and lovely vista overlooking mountains and trees. We loved that drinks were included as part of our booking to avoid the need to constantly buy water etc. The retreat has a cafe which is open for tea and barista coffee whenever you liked. They even served orange or apple juice for my son. You can purchase cakes if you like.
