An unforgettable stay filled with warmth, culture, and wonderful memories! The host and their family were incredibly welcoming, always cheerful, and full of positive energy, making us feel truly at home from the moment we arrived. During our stay, we had the rare opportunity to enjoy a live performance of traditional dance, Tsugaru shamisen, and folk songs. It was absolutely mesmerizing to watch and to learn the stories and traditions behind each performance. We were especially delighted that a kimono sensei was present to guide us step-by-step on how to properly wear a kimono, making the experience even more authentic and meaningful. What made it even more special was being able to participate in a hands-on session where we learned some of the dance steps ourselves. This gave us a much deeper appreciation for the local culture and traditions, creating memories we will cherish forever. The next morning, we enjoyed a relaxing breakfast with freshly brewed coffee and tea, accompanied by their delicious farm-produced honey. Knowing that the honey was lovingly made by the family on their own farm, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscapes of Aomori, made it taste even more special. This stay was the perfect blend of cultural immersion, local flavors, and genuine hospitality. We are truly grateful for the kindness, joy, and unforgettable experiences shared by the host and their family. Nambu Town is a fascinating place and truly a hidden gem. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and heartwarming experience.

“It's was an exceptional stay, with an exceptional host.”
Mayuko-san was an exceptional host, she was very warm and welcoming and we felt right at home. Mayuko-san and her sister played shamisen for us which was an amazing experience, one of the highlights of our trip which we won't forget. We were also fortunate enough to share cake with her for her birthday! In the morning Mayuko made us coffee which was very nice ❤️ we wished we had stayed longer than one night. We would highly recommend staying here to other travellers.

“An amazing guesthouse with very welcoming host!!”
It was an amazing experience, the guesthouse is located in a very beautiful place close to nature. The host was so welcoming, she prepared a dinner for us (asked if we are interested in it) and introduced us to the music, dance and singing from the region. We talked and learned a lot :) the room was big and comfortable, the view and singing of the birds in the morning made the day brighter :)

“Comfortable place, lovely accomodating host, great music and dancing”
Very cosy homelike atmosphere run by a very nice local. Comfortable beds and very roomy. Extremely helpful host who was very accommodating with our requests to see places the next day, drove us around and waited. We had a great time and got the local experience, saw a wonderful traditional dance and string instrument performance at the guest house. Highly recommend also Hachinohe park especially during cherry blossom season. Kushihiki Hachiman shrine, Kabushima shrine and lunch at the Hasshoku centre fish markets where you can shop and cook your own seafood.

“Perfect opportunity to experience traditional Japanese home, food and culture.”
What a lovely evening - warm comfortable accomodation, traditional music, kabuki and Japanese dinner and breakfast. Myoko and her husband made us feel very welcome and we are grateful to have had a private introduction to Japanese folk songs and music.

“Once in a lifetime experience”
Absolutely lovely and memorable experience. Mayuko-san and her family were so kind and friendly, it really made lifelong memories for our family of four, right down to our 7 year old. She cooked scrumptious dinner, and even accommodated for vegetarians. The shamisen and singing performance was fantastic, and she was even able to arrange last minute Shamisen lessons with her student, which was icing on the cake. The lodge itself is comfortable, clean, and well maintained, with good atmosphere, adequate heating, comfortable futon bedding, and good facilities. The location is also great, close to Tanesashi coast and many apple and fruit farms for fruit picking.

“Nice guesthouse”
Nice and friendly host. We were late for our check in but the host advised us to go for our dinner first before the restaurant closes at 8.30pm. They waited for us to check in after nine. A pity that we checked in late and left early morning for the Sunday market.

I had wonderful and amazing experience while I was staying in the hotel. The accommodation was comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. And it was fantastic that the staff prepare the Shamisen, singing and dancing show for us. Their performance was perfect. I was pleased that I learnt about the history of the traditional instruments.

“Wonderful hosts, highly recommended.”
Mayuko and her family are warm, open and friendly hosts. We really appreciated the opportunity to converse with them (with some help from google translate!) and it made the stay special. The music and dance demonstration was wonderful. I can't think of a better local base.

“If you are looking for a genuine and authentic Japanese experience, visit this guesthouse!”
Our stay at the guesthouse was a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, Mayuko, the host, made us feel at home and showed us around in her nice house. Our futons were already laid out in a spacious, traditional room. Later that day, at night, she took us by car to the centre of Hachinohe and introduced us to the owners of a food stall with some exquisite food. The next morning we were treated to an extensive and delicious Japanese breakfast with local delicacies. We had rented a car and Mayuko provided us with a perfect itinerary for a day trip, from the remarkable Seagull-temple, to a beautiful hike along the coastline, to the most impressive indoor foodmarket we have seen in Japan. That night Mayuko cooked us a very tasty dinner, before it was time for the highlight of our visit: a performance of traditional Japanese music and dance, performed by the host accompanied by het sister and niece. Mayuko and het sister are top level performers in the field of traditional Japanese singing and dancing. Also very interesting was the explanation of the meaning of the dance and the way their performance art is passed on through the generations. So, if you are looking for a genuine and authentic Japanese experience, visit the guesthouse!

Mayuko-san was an extremely welcoming host, and I received high praise for being the first Finnish person to stay at her guesthouse. I didn't try any traditional Japanese arts that she teaches, but on the last morning she kindly took me to see a shamisen performance. Highly recommend this place!
