Facilities were lovely, location was easy walk to shops and lake. Lots of good eating places nearby. The host couple were lovely, and helped us with everything we needed. They also cooked great breakfasts and authentic sri lankan dinners.

The lovely married couple who manage the place are just delightful. Saseeni (apologies if I’ve spelt it incorrectly) is the greatest cook, we had the most fabulous breakfasts & dinners-absolutely the best food we had in our 3.5 weeks in Sri Lanka! Her mum taught her very well! The infinity pool is lovely with great views over the lake & a perfect temperature. It looks especially beautiful at night all lit up. We enjoyed having a shower outside, private but with some occasional cheeky monkeys for company 😊 Sunset 🌅 view over the lake and also a view over to Sigiriya & Pidurutalagala Rocks if you walk a short distance up the hill past the water tank. We had to get to Habarana station for our train back to Colombo and we were treated to a complimentary ride in a safari jeep-thank you so much!

It was in a remote area so close to nature. Small and compact almost had the whole accomodation to ourselves. The staff were excellent and catered to all our needs. They went over and beyond to help us in anyway they could.

This place is a rare find ! Very newly built and the accommodation is so comfy with fun features like the outside bathroom. Three of us stayed in one lodge and that was really fine. The beds were super comfy . The pool overlooking the lake is stunning. We spent quite a bit of time just hanging out at the hotel as it was so nice. The staff are exceptional and made us an amazing curry one night with so many dishes . The breakfast was different every morning and so much fab food . There is also a great restaurant 5 mins walk away with western options.

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Beautiful lodge and scenery looking over the lake. The breakfasts were freshly cooked every morning and were fantastic. We don’t normally eat in hotels for dinner however we had dinner here on our last evening and the food was absolutely sensational, you must eat here if you stay!

Amazing location with great views. The staff was really kind and the host is a great chef in the kitchen. It was new years eve and the staff of the property organized a mindblowing firework for us. It could not be better. We had 2 great nights with them.

We had an amazing stay. The view was lovely. As wel as the staff. They were very kind and welcoming. We had dinner at the stay and it is one of the best dinners we had in Sri Lanka, nice local food. The room was amazing, had everything you need and more. We took a swim in the amazing infinity pool. If we wanted to go somewhere they always helped us.

“Amazing stay at a beautiful hotel with exceptional staff”

Our stay at Sundown Lake was fantastic. Sasini and the staff there were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed for two nights with full board which I would very much recommend as the food was absolutely delicious, with both breakfast and dinner being some of the tastiest food we had in Sri Lanka. The hotel is beautiful, with spacious and clean rooms and a great pool overlooking the lake. You have easy access to Habarana village for shops or other food options, and plenty of options for tours of the nearby national parks for safari. Do not hesitate to book!

We had an amazing stay at the Sundown Lake Hotel! The owners were very supportive, kind and just lovely people. The view from every cabin down to the lake is great and the very clean pool area makes it even easier to enjoy the stay. The breakfast is very nice - you‘ll get some traditional Sri Lankan breakfast dishes too. We also had dinner every night and it was some of the best food we had on our whole trip in Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave this beautiful place! Thank you to Sasini, Anjana and Mahinda for everything!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Sasini was excellent in going out of her way to assist with arranging a massage and transport as well as a packed lunch for breakfast at late notice for a morning Safari. Also, the food that Sasini cooked, especially for dinner was some of the best food we've had and was excellent value for money.

The location is gorgeous. The stuff went beyond to satisfy all our requests. The food prepared by the lady, breakfast and dinner, was simply out of this world. Strongly recommended.
