2nd visit to Mamisa Cafe, and will book again for 2027. Lovely hosts, beautiful and comfortable haven. Superb home-cooked food. Plenty of adventure options with Moses and his magical Tuk-Tuk. That should say it all.

Great hosts, shared outside space to make friends with other travellers and wonderful trips with Moses. A very warm hearted stay just one minute from the beautiful lake in Haberana where you can walk with the dogs. Fabulous.

We stayed four nights at the homestay and it was honestly the best place we’ve ever been! Isabelle and Moses are so kind and really great hosts. We had the triple bedroom, which is right under the roof, it feels like a treehouse! The house is in a very calm environment but still only ten minutes from the city centre of Habarana. Directly behind the house is a rock from where you have a beautiful view over the lake and the jungle, we saw so many birds there. Another highlight was the food, which was just amazing and so tasteful. Also you can do Tuktuk tours with Moses, what I would highly recommend. He took us to some nice hidden gems, like interesting temples, and he showed us the beautiful surrounding wildlife. We saw many different animals, also some elefants and met almost no other tourists the whole day. We also visited some really local places like a bakery and some farms. And we did a Batik Workshop with a friend of Moses, which was a special experience. The people were so kind and we had the feeling to discover the real Sri Lanka, off the main tourist path. But also the typical things like Sigirya rock can be reached easily from there. I can highly recommend this place to anybody, you won’t regret it!

Wonderful relaxed place with a lot of athmosphere and very, very kind hosts. Isabelle is fluent in English (and French), has a big heart, helps with practical things and is very kind, always making you a cup of coffee if you want one. Moses takes his guests on safari-tours in his Tuktuk and I am sure they are much better (and funnier!) than all other tours in the vicinity. He has a lot of experience and spots every animal from far away and showed us sights which few other turists will see. Everybody in this place loved these trips with him! You can choose to eat dinner together with other travellers and we loved it. Mamisa Café is close to a lake where you can watch the sunset and a lot of birds. We had a nice room with good space. This is not a five-star-hotel, but we prefer places with athmosphere and a good vibration. I would definitely come agein! Highly recommended.

“Amazing short safari stay with friendly hosts”

A lovely property with friendly hosts! Food was wonderful and the location was ideal for exploring the area including the nearby lake for kayaking. Moses' brother is a fantastic safari guide and we had a great day out with him seeing lots of elephants!

Our family loved our time here with Isabelle & Moses, who have put their heart and soul into this place. We felt very welcome, Moses was an amazing cook and the food was fantastic. Our kids helped him prepare an evening meal and we went on some great tuktuk tours. The rooms are a delight, spacious and comfortable. If you don't mind the lack of an ensuite shower, choose the triple room which is upstairs and quite magical.

One of the best places we’ve been in Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed our time with Moses during the day as we’ve made two Tuk Tuk rides in the surrounding area seeing animals and lots of nature. It was like being at home!

The food was amazing, typical and kindly prepared by Mosesh and Isabelle, who were insightful hosts. Especially the included breakfast! Their visit recommendations were great, and they were always happy to help! We loved the tuk-tuk tour we did with Mosesh: he showed us many remote places and animals!

Isabelle prepared a delicious breakfast for me, and the dinner was also very generous. Unfortunately, I was unwell and couldn’t fully enjoy it. It's a pity that I couldn't join Moses's tour, but I believe his guiding skills are amazing and engaging! I had a truly wonderful and memorable time there.

This was perhaps our best stay during a three week trip in Sri Lanka. Isabelle and Moses are very special people who make their guests feel right at home. We greatly enjoyed our conversations with them. Moses' cooking skills are exceptional, and his Tuk-tuk tours through the quiet rural area near Habarana were fantastic. Would definitely come again. Thank you Isabelle and Moses for this wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Mamisa homestay. Moses made us feel welcome and at home from the very first minute. Highlights of our stay were Tuk Tuk Safari with Moses, including “driver’s license” for the kids, and the fantastic dinner that Moses prepared every evening. He also helped us organize a Minneriya Safari and a driver for our next destination. The homestay is located in a quiet area directly by the lake.

Comfortable bed and large room. Excellent meals. Wonderful tuktuk tours with Moses. Great conversations with Isabella and Moses.

We particularly enjoyed the "homestay" atmosphere. We immediately felt like at home visiting friends! The warm welcome of Isabelle and the crazy excursions with Moses have made it a memorable stay. We feel their love for this marvelous country and the need to share it with their guests. In addition Moses is also a great cook so dinners have been a real delight every night. This stay will remain in our memories forever.

The welcome, the ambience, the doggies, the wonderful food and last but not least, the very special tuktuk tour. One night was not enough!

“Discover the authentic Sri Lankan way of life”

I liked everything! The homestay is located in a quiet place near a lake but the city center is not very far. The room is very big and clean. But more than anything, I spent three amazing days thanks to Moses and Isabelle who helped me a lot! Moses is a dynamic and funny host and tuk tuk driver. He'll do anything to make you happy! He drove me for three days around, he knows the region like the back of his hands, it has no secrets for him. Thanks to him, I saw a lot of elephants and cameleons on the road, I was mesmerised. He is also an excellent cook and let me help him to cook delicious dinners. I also met his kind family. Thanks to him, I discovered the authentic Sri Lankan way of life. Thank you again!
