We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome from the host. Throughout our entire stay, she was incredibly kind and helpful, always happy to answer our questions and assist us with anything we needed. The accommodation itself is beautiful and unique. The outdoor veranda, the tastefully decorated room, and the open bathroom are real highlights and create a wonderful atmosphere. The breakfast was outstanding – delicious, fresh, and with a great variety of different foods to enjoy. We were also pleasantly surprised when she even offered us fresh juices after we returned to the hotel. Her caring and friendly nature made our stay truly special. The location is also perfect for exploring the Cultural Triangle from Habarana, including famous attractions such as Sigiriya and Dambulla Cave Temple. “A perfect place to stay to rest and relax.”

The villa was nestled in amongst trees with manicured gardens and a pond. It was peaceful and restful. The accommodation was spacious, very comfortable and clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They also prepared a breakfast of delicious traditional food.

“An excellent Jungle retreat!”

This is a perfect Jungle retreat accommodation and an ideal place to stay to visit all the Cultural Triangle sites as well as an elephant safari. Delani and her husband were perfect hosts and as well as arranging all the trips we wanted to go on for very reasonable prices Delani provided an excellent breakfast and a fantastic evening meal . She also arranged for laundry to be done. The bed was very comfortable and it was lovely waking up to the sounds of birds. There were monkeys around but they didn’t disturb us or keep us awake as one of the earlier reviews mentioned. Habanara which is a short walk away, has all the facilities required-3 atms, grocery shop, coffee shops and plenty of restaurants . Jungle villas was a great start to our Sri Lanka trip and Delani could not have done more for us.

Our stay at Jungle Shades Villa was absolutely wonderful and truly special. Even before our arrival, the owner organized a very good driver and a comfortable car from Colombo at a fair price, which made the journey relaxed and stress-free. The welcome was deeply heartwarming – we immediately had the feeling that we had known each other for years. The house itself is an experience: everything is beautifully arranged, very well maintained, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast deserves a special mention: you should definitely arrive very hungry, as it is abundant, delicious, and prepared with great care. Throughout our stay, the owner took excellent care of us, provided valuable local information, and helped organize tours in a very thoughtful way — always helpful, never intrusive. Everything was simply perfect. We would gladly come back and highly recommend Jungle Shades Villa.

where to start! the whole place is amazing, as there are only 2 jungle huts (soon to be 3) you feel very exclusive with just the noise of the jungle and monkeys running overhead at night. Delani the host is fantastic and an amazing cook for breakfast and evening meal. My friend got sick when we were there and Delani took her personally to the local doctor to get a prescription for antibiotics, super star!

Fantastic gem of a find. Positioned in beautiful natural jungle surrounds with beautifully appointed cabins. Our hostess and her family were incredibly warm and welcoming and left us wanting for nothing. Huge delicious breakfast included and I highly recommend eating dinner in - the best food I have had in Sri Lanka so far!! Would definitely recommend as a base for exploring the area and would happily stay again!

The place is clean. The staff is charming and polite. The room is large and one of the most beautiful I have seen. A very pastoral place. There is hot water and air conditioning. I recommend to everyone

“Amazing oasis in Habarana”

Everything. The two - soon to be three cabins are so beautiful, comfortable and clean. Loved having the deck to sit out on. The food was plentiful, varied and so tasty. The owners were so kind generous. We loved it here. Habarana is quite central so staying here you can easily get to lots of places.

“Jungle Shades Villa is a little jewel in Habarana.”

Jungle Shades villa is a very special little place. We stayed for 5 nights and used it as a base to explore Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa and Pidurangula, all of which are in easy striking distance (we have our own tuk tuk). The room is big and spacious with two double beds with mosquito nets and has everything you need, including constant hot water (through its own hot water heater), air con, a fridge, kettle and even a hair dryer! The outdoor bathroom and shower is a great feature, as is the verandah with more than enough seating. The owner, Dilani, prepares a very generous breakfast, which kept us going all day, and we had two dinners there which were fantastic, consisting of a range of different curries. Really can’t rate this place highly enough.

Dilani is an incerdibly wonderful host! Breakfast is amazing and the dinner we enjoyed at Jungle shades villa was incredibly good and tasty! Jungle Shades villa is in the cenre of Habarana and very close to everything. Nevertheless it is a little bit beside the main road what makes it even better! Very nice place in a beautiful and quiet garden. Awesome meals prepared by the owner who is very helpful with everything. She arranged airport transfer for us. Every site in the Dambulla-Sigiriya region can be reached easily.

The host was so welcoming, the bungalow top specification, beautifully designed, so much attention to detail & so clean. The breakfast was amazing and the home cooked supper by Dilani was absolutely incredible; 7 different Sri Lankan dishes! We recommend this place unreservedly. An absolute find!

Jungle Shades Villa is within walking distance of the town centre. The recently built villas are run by a local family. They were talking about installing a swimming pool in the future, until then you can use the Cinnamon hotel pool for $10 pp. The lady is very keen to help arrange any tours etc if required. A huge breakfast is provided, which we enjoyed whilst watching the local wildlife. The indoor/outdoor shower room and toilet were a great feature.

We were met by the owner Damila who was lovely. She showed us to our accommodation which was very good. A beautiful bedroom with very comfortable beds with mosquito nets. The bathroom was amazing and loved the shower area. It felt like you were in the jungle. There was a balcony to sit on as well. The gardens were being laid out and organised. We met her family and she cooked lovely dinners and breakfasts which were more than we could eat. She organised tours for us and a massage. The massage I thought she was going to be doing, but turned out it was at a centre 5 minutes down the road

“Absolutely wonderful stay, best Sri Lankan dinner fully home-cooked”

Just amazing, wonderful couple managing the property, rooms are even better looking than on the pictures, wonderful bathroom with jungle sound as shower is open. Everything very new and well maintained. Easy to walk from and explore around. One evening we had dinner in the Jungle shades restaurant and the food was just amazing (10 different meals/curries cooked over 3 hours and that just for us). Thank you so much for this wonderful stay! We would come back any time!!

We stayed for four nights and loved this place. The villa is quite new and it looks like the pictures. It is spacious with two large double beds with mosquito nets and the bathroom is large and has an outdoor shower. There is also a nice veranda. It is walking distance to the small city center, but the host can provide transportation if you prefer tuk tuk instead. They can also arrange tours if you wish. The host is very nice and does everything to make you feel comfortable. Can definitely recommend this place to others.

We had a wonderful stay! Despite our very early arrival, the host was incredibly kind and welcoming — he even prepared an extra breakfast and had our room ready for us. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the open-air jungle-view bathroom was like something out of a dream — such a unique and peaceful experience. “Paradise in Habarana”

I liked everything about the property! The hosts were so friendly, helpful and kind. We were lucky enough to be the first people to stay in their new villa … it was pristine! Beautifully designed … everything you could want … the location is stunning … feels like you’re in a wooden cabin, in the middle of the jungle; where as in reality, you’re in easy walking distance to great restaurants, shops, etc … but the room is so peaceful, set in the nature. All the excursions that the host arranged for us were brilliant … Sigiriya rock, Pidurangala rock, the safari, and Ritigala. Breakfasts were amazing! Lots to choose from! And our hostess even gave us a framed photo of us at the villa! Amazing! Highly recommend!

“Lovely stay with Dilani”

I enjoyed my stay in this cottage so much that I decided to stay two nights more. Dilani is a very good host, checking regularly if you are OK. You can use the swimmingpool across the lane for free. But for $7 or LKR2000 you can also use the swimmingpool of the nearby walking distance Habarana Village hotel by Cinnamon. This is a large pool with comfy beds, mattress and big towel at the lakeside. The second twin cottage is now also operational. Dilani organised my taxi back to Colombo for a good price.
