“Little gem in Gojo”

Amazing place with incredibly kind and hospitable hosts. We stopped in Gojo for one night on our bike trip to Kyoto and the hosts went above and beyond making our stay as comfortable as possible. I had mentioned to the hosts that it would be my birthday while we were staying and asked for recommendations. They sent over a lovely guide with great recommendations for interesting locations/restaurants to visit nearby. We appreciated this greatly and ended up celebrating my birthday at a restaurant nearby. They also had some balloons and a happy birthday sign out for me at arrival :') The place itself is a nice ryokan with a mix between modern and classic, with tatami floors and comfortable futons in the upper bedrooms and western style beds on the lower floors. There is an indoor bike parking we made use of, as well as table tennis is the garage. They also had wine in the fridge that was available for purchase and was great. Overally, lots of small, thoughtful touches that made this place great. Additionally, we seriously appreciated the laundry machine, dryer, and dishwasher. For some reason dryers are harder to come across biking across japan.

The property is very spacious with a fully equipped kitchen and most importantly, heaters for winter. Located on the historical street of Gojo Shinmachi-dori in Gojo City, Nara Prefecture, the property is well-preserved and updated with modern facilities for comfort yet retains the charm of history of the merchant house that it was previously. The property is also within walking distance to amenities like a supermarket, cafes, restaurants and most importantly, an Onsen. Proximity to the river makes morning walks fantastic along the river bank just to enjoy the sunrise. It’s one of the few property we have experienced in our various travels that have sharp knives in the kitchen that we can actually use and the utensils are clean with basic cooking seasoning provided, it was a big plus for us.

Everything is great! Amazing place at a beautiful historical street near the river with mountain views. Shogo and Miu are spectacular hosts and they made our stay even more pleasant and easy.

This is a perfect retreat for a relaxing family getaway. With a hot spring nearby and Naru Park just an hour away, it offered the ideal balance of rest and enjoyable outings. The accommodation is perfect for families, featuring excellent cooking facilities, a washing machine, spacious rooms, and well-maintained amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

What an incredible experience! When travel is your passion you seek more than just a comfy bed and good location, you seek an all incapsulating experience. And you will find that here. The property is culturally significant, boosting traditional Japanese living with a touch of western comforts. It’s set on an old street lined with traditional Japanese house a short stroll or bike ride into town. One of the most incredible aspects of our stay was our host, who was extremely tentative and welcomed us with open arms and shared some of the local eateries for some mouthwatering traditional Japanese cuisine. Thank you very much for sharing this amazing experience and pace with us.

Unbelievable little gem in a properly historic and preserved town. You have 400 years of history here, kaiseki restaurants and the house itself is impeccable with everything you can expect to find in a house vs hotel, i.e. laundry, fully equipped kitchen (for those who want to fry some wagyu yourselves), inner courtyard, etc. I stumbled upon it by random chance in between Koyasan and Osaka and im so glad I did - Gojo is amazing and this house is perfect to experience it.

Private accommodation with character that is clean and spacious. Check in was seamless with the help of the manager living next door. Plenty of kitchen utensils to make coffee and breakfast. Car park is right in front of the accommodation. Supermarket, Convenient store, Onsen spa was all in walking distance. Highly recommend for people visiting Yoshino, Kumano region.
