Eating a tasty filling breakfast sitting on the verandah looking at a castle and hills is the fulfilment of a dream. The owner is cheerful and friendly. Despite not being able to speak each other's language we communicated about the sites to see and the beauty of the countryside. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had instant hot water. The location was perfect for the view and access to the castle and bazaar in Gjirokastra.

“Lovely accommodation in Gjirokaster”

Really loved staying here in Gjirokaster. Communication was good between the owner and ourselves. The location was great and around a 15 min walk to the bazaar area in the centre. A public parking lot was a short walk (3 mins) down from the accommodation or was available along the street next to the house. The house had a lovely terrace with views and the room was spacious and clean. Entry was via a locked key box. The shower was powerful and the wifi good. There was a small fridge. The price was very good.

“Charming home stay In Gjirokastra!!”

Such a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Grandpa’s home. The accommodation is in an excellent location, only a ~10 minute walk to the new bazaar and the steps of the castle. Grandpas home has all the natural charm of a classic Albanian home + grandpa to cook you breakfast in the morning on the terrace (a must while you stay here!). We found the room well equipped, clean and comfortable. Would absolutely recommend staying here!!!

“Beautiful house in great location”

Grandpa was very sweet, the breakfast on the veranda was a nice touch. The location was great, 10 mins walk to old town and 10 mins walk to new town. There’s free parking on the road. We were here during off season and managed to find parking. Our room was clean and a good size for two. Toilet was outside the room but private to us only. It was also extremely clean and had great water pressure. Communication was great, grandpa’s daughter kept us informed of check in and check out processes. Always making sure everything was ok. Thank you for a great stay!

Lovely and cozy place with an amazing view of the city and the castle. The room and bed were very nice and comfortable, and they offered great value for the price. The outside area was full of plants and flowers, making it incredibly charming and peaceful. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the city center and about 20 minutes to the castle. Getting there by car can be a bit tricky since the streets are old and made of stone, but that’s part of the city’s charm. We also had breakfast there, cooked by the grandpa himself, such a lovely way to start the day! He was super sweet and welcoming. The only small downside was that the bathroom was outside the room, but it wasn’t a big deal at all. We’d definitely come back!

“Grandpa's perfect peaceful home”

Perfect location and lovely views from the terrace. 'Grandpa' looked after us well and made lovely breakfasts and treated us to some homemade raki.

Easy to find, great location and balcony, value for money. View across to the castle was stunning.

Great location, near the castle and so called 'old town' (touristy area) and the lovely center where the locals spend their time (downhill). The car parking is easily reachable (no challenging steep roads). The (first floor) room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed, including a well functioning AC, comfortable bed and good shower. Grandpa helped us with a smile on his face and drank a glass of raki with us. If you want authentic Albanian hospitality and a friendly place to stay, Grandpa's home is a great pick.

Short version : we loved the guesthouse! Everything was perfect. The room, the breakfast, the location. Owner very kind. And let's talk about the view !! Amazing !! I could come back in Albania just to be there and spending time in Gjirokaster.

10/10! I couldn’t find a single negative thing about our stay. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well-stocked with soap and body wash. Self-check-in instructions were easy to follow, and the hostess always responded quickly. Air conditioning is available, which is a nice bonus. I highly recommend the breakfast they provide for just a few euros - you get two options, savory and sweet, and a drink (coffee, tea, juice, or milk) is included. Everyone there was extremely kind. We loved our stay and would definitely return if we visit Gjirokaster again - it truly felt like home.
