“Mixed Feelings”

We have visited Puglia twice now and have stayed in 6 wonderful accommodations, agriturismos, and Airbnbs. For us, the focus is never on luxury, but on genuine hospitality and customer care. Laura was truly a highlight – she prepared a beautiful breakfast and welcomed us with warmth and kindness throughout our stay. With Domenico, however, our experience was quite different. He seemed more business-oriented and less focused on guest comfort, which for us led to some situations that felt disappointing: • Early check-in being charged at double the price stated on Booking; • This was the only place during our trip where we were asked to pay additional local taxes, even though the Booking.com listing showed the price as including “fees and taxes”; • An engagement gift that turned out to be quite expensive for what it was; • Being told that staying by the pool for 2 hours after check-out would incur extra costs – despite the fact that, on a previous day, friends had been invited over for drinks and smoking, which meant we couldn’t use the pool ourselves. While these things may not bother everyone, they did leave us with mixed feelings. Domenico later mentioned that some of these charges were meant to offset the cost of a chair I had accidentally broken, but overall, it created an uncomfortable atmosphere. A very mixed stay – and while not every guest may have the same experience, we feel it’s worth mentioning both the positives and the challenges.

Perfect location to visit the tourist sites in that area. The peace and quiet was so lovely. Pool was very nice to sit around as well. The host could not do enough for us.

The location is great, this was exactly what we needed. Quiet, peaceful, not in the town. Everything was clean, the host, Domenico is extremely friendly. He greeted us warmly, showed us around and offered us his permanent availability. Later he advised us where to go and visit, what famous sights are worth visiting.

Everything. 😍 Ambience, surroundings - olive trees, flower fields and vineyards, backyard and terrace, sweet dog, chickens and cat. Domenico and Laura were so, so, sooooo kind, helpful and friendly. Domenico is full of tips and suggestions how to enjoy the area best and will give you a bunch of advise. Breakfast was delicious - freshly baked pastries 🍰 - yum! And a special touch was serving the breakfast on the terrace. For me that was a perfect way to start the day. With the birds and the sun. 🌞 We had a fantastic time and felt so sad when we had to leave and would love to come again. Grazie! Thank you! We loved the fresh fruit and bakery items for breakfast. A welcome change from the tiny pre-packaged breakfast that is common in Italy.

Mandorla Amara B&B is situated in a very nice farmhouse in a rural area about 4 km east of Gioia del Colle. Excellent hub for visiting the many beautiful sites in the Puglia and Matera regions (all within a 40-50 km radius). The guest rooms are in an annex with a private entrance. The hosts are very hospitable and helpful, and can provide recommendations with respect to local points of interests, restaurants, etc. A very nice breakfast with locally grown fruits and home-baked cake is served on the porch in front of the guest room entrance. A nice extra is that the car can be parked in the shade (under a canopy).

The pool and the views of the Italian countryside are amazing. Domenico’s hospitality was a genuine pleasure and we felt so at home here!

if you came to Puglia and you have a car, do not look for the best accommodation - you just found it. Mandorla Amara is one of the best places we've ever had a chance to sleep in on Booking. absolute peace of the Italian countryside, singing birds, clucking hens - awesome. it is located in a great place, it is close to all the attractions of Apulia. The hosts are extremely nice, they will help you with everything, they will show you the best places to visit. the room itself is clean, warm, the bed incredibly comfortable, the bathroom clean, well-maintained, towels, cosmetics, hair dryer - everything is there. pleasant breakfasts provided on site, excellent coffee. You can also buy homemade wine on site - you must try it! We love everything about our apartament, next time, when we are in Puglia we will definitely stay at Mandorla Amara
