The owner, Eri, is very kind and generous. She takes care of your needs. She knows the area, so she learned me so many things. She also brang me in the Ukai festival, to do shopping, to eat on restaurants, to the Gifu's castle,... Thank you for all.

“Fantastic host who went above and beyond”

I’m gushing with how pleasant this stay was. It’s not a hotel, you’ll be staying in a residential house in a beautiful suburb of Gifu. If you’re worried about the location like I was then don’t be. The host picked me up from the station, drove me to Gifu castle, then picked me up again. She then gave me some saki to welcome me into her home. After that she ran me a traditional Japanese bath. I had my own private space next to the living room. There are no proper curtains so if light bothers you then I’d recommend an eye mask (which I always travel with). In the morning she took me to a local spot with her super cute granddaughter for breakfast which was included. She then dropped me off at the station with a hug and a smile and even a little gift. I’ve never stayed in a place where someone went so far above and beyond any expectations. Like others have said here, it really is like staying with a loving relative that fusses over you. Don’t hesitate to book here if you want a local authentic experience that you won’t find at any hotel. Thank you to my new adopted Japanese mother!

The hostess really enjoys having guests and introducing them to Japanese culture. She heard that I hadn't had the local variation of ramen, so she took me out to a restaurant so I could try it. The next evening, she took myself and another guest to a local "onsen" so that we could experience the hot springs. She picked me up from the train station, and dropped me off when I left—she is incredibly sweet and very helpful! ◡̈ It was like staying with a loving aunt.

Everything was amazing the only downside is the distance from the station but the hostess is so kind and gave me a ride to anywhere I needed and back. 10/10 definitely would come back again

There's something magical about being gently awakened by the sunrise, as golden sunlight streams into a beautiful room. The owner was also very nice and treated me very well. I had a wonderful stay here

Lovely house, with all you need at your disposal, coupled with the best landlady on the planet. If I ever go back tu Gifu, no need to even look for a different place. Really went straight to my heart!

Mama-San ! So kind and helpful, she'll take care of you as you where a baby 😊. The area is a residential area and such very quiet and peaceful. Bus stop is not so far away if you don't want to take advantage of Mama-Sans generosity and kindness, the city-center is a ~ 25 mins ride away.

Oka-san is very nice!😍 She welcomes me to Japan with watching Ukai. We also have Japanese style breakfast together and the chawanmushi is OISHIIII. Niku Jaga is alsoo very delicious🥰🥰 And I could take a relaxing warm bath after a long day, it's super refreshing. Oka-san is such a lovely lady. Please stay healthy. I'll come back after my Japanese has improved😁

What I can say? The place is beautiful and peaceful. But the thing that really worth here is the kindness of the host. I can’t describe how welcoming she is. We spent beautiful time together, a time that really can stay in your memory forever. Thank you for everything. I wish you the best things.

“A gem of a stay you wouldn’t want to miss at any cost!”

I usually don’t write reviews but this place is so good that I had no option but to write. This is a house. A proper house with a lovely backyard and cleanliness of highest standards. However, the real charm is the landlady. She is extremely polite and generous to the extent that she goes all the way to accommodate the guest’s needs. From little games to Onsen excursions, just staying at this property should be a reason good enough to visit Gifu. Finally, the food. I would recommend you to wake up super hungry because the landlady puts out a feast every morning! She is a cook par excellence and each dish (including the serveware) has a story to tell. It’s amazing how she manages everything on her own. There is nothing to not like about this place. I visited Gifu on a work trip but now this place has become my reason to return to Gifu. The city has an asset in this place and it truly shows you what Japan is when you take away the neon lights.

“It’s like a B&B stay with the services of a guide included”

I spent three nights at B&B Legare. Eri was an excellent host. Not only friendly and warm, she actually took the trouble of planning an itinerary for me. Every night she brought me to a different onsen and we had dinner out together. For my day trip to Gujo Hachiman she drove me to the bus station and made sure I bought the right ticket and boarded the right bus. The B&B is not close to the city centre so everyday she sent and picked me up from the city centre. If not for Eri I wouldn’t have been able to experience as much as I did in Gifu; she brought me to places I otherwise would find challenging to get to get to and I learnt more about Gifu and Japanese culture from her. Also the room I had at B&B was very comfortable and spacious and I slept so very well on the futon.

Eri-san was a very special host indeed, who really took care of me for the 2 days I stayed. I had been cycling in extremely bad weather and she drove me to a local coin laundry shop so I could wash and dry my belongings. She also helped me with restaurants and finding a buddhist onsen to relax my weary muscles. The house is a very high standard and the room was tatami style, spacious and modern. The garden looked wonderful although the weather didn't really permit me to relax outside. If I could score 11 I would!
