Nice to be back after 10 years to re-visit here ^_^. The hotel Pfeffermuehle is located close to Gengenbach train station, by walking distance of ca. 10 min.. From the warm welcome at reception to the spotless room, and delicious Germany style breakfast, every moment staying here will be turning into the memory that we will cherish. Now, back to home with full of energy! - from Room 6, July-12-2025.

We had booked 3 rooms - 2 doubles and a single. While the double rooms were newer and cleaner, we initially had a slightly dated single room assigned. When it rained, there was a loud pitter patter on the metal roof outside which disturbed the room occupant's sleep. The bathroom attached to this room was also quite old. However, once we mentioned this to the reception they immediately tried to find an alternative and the newer room was much better and was newer and much more comfortable.

“Almost perfect”

The hotel is just 10 mins of walk from the station, but it's relatively flat to walk. The hotel is right next to a stream and 5 mins away from the city center. Very conveniently located. My room was quite large with a big comfy bed. It had 2 big windows and was brightly lit and at night I could easily darken with rolling blinds.The room had a big desk, 2 chairs, one coffee kitchen and a small dining niche. There was ample storage space as well. I travelled during winter and the heater was good enough to keep the room warm and toasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast had so much variety. Really a hearty breakfast. The bathroom was well equipped, had everything one would need. I definitely would recommend this place for up to a week long stay.

“A bijou hotel!”

We chose this hotel for the proximity to the Christmas market and we were not disappointed. Our room was superb, large with good furniture and space; beds were comfy and we slept really well. The bathroom was modern with great fittings. There was even a bar fridge if needed. Breakfast was superb and the staff is so nice! There was a full parking lot but the hotel receptionist found us space, she was lovely and soooo welcoming. We will certainly return.

Gorgeous rooms with very kind staff at check in! Great value for money and only 3-5 minute walk into the city. Very comfy beds and all the necessities (including mini fridge)! Allowed an early check in and was so helpful!

The location is superb! I was welcomed by a very professional hospitable receptionist - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very satisfying! A lot of choices and very good quality. The service staff again very very welcoming and warm. Overall very pleasant experience and I shall stay there again. A big thank you to all staff ♥️

Excellent location for exploring the old town, room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The restaurant right beside the hotel was great for supper the night before.

Excellent location with architecture that blends beautifully into the neighbourhood, just a short walk from the old town. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff very welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying. Parking inside may be limited when busy, but nearby street parking is available and not an issue.

Great hotel in an excellent location, offering good value for money. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Friendly welcome. Good breakfast with excellent bread and eggs cooked to order. Hotel is very central - just a short stroll to all the shops, restaurants etc… Gengenbach is gorgeous - a perfect stop-off en route home to UK from Austria.
