I had a truly heartwarming experience staying at Shirley's Homestay in Galle. Shirley is one of the kindest and most helpful hosts I’ve ever met. From the moment I arrived, he made me feel welcome and made sure I was comfortable. I was there for an internship at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and stayed for 3 weeks. I was offered breakfast and also dinner if I liked for a fair price. Shirley and his wife were really attentive and supportive during my stay — especially when I had to go to the hospital. He didn't hesitate to help and made sure I was looked after and even brought me there and talked to the staff which meant so much to me being far from home. If you're looking for a place where you'll be treated like family, I can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Shirley's Homestay.

“Lovely place close to Karapitiya hospital”

I stayed at Shirley‘s homestay for 3 weeks and Shirley and his wife were the perfect hosts. It‘s only 10mins walking distance to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and I got a lovely breakfast every morning. They also offer a delicious dinner which I enjoyed a couple of times. Shirley was so helpful with everything and even took me to the laundromat and helped me with my visa extension. The neighbourhood is really quiet and the view from the terrace is right to green bushes and trees. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe from the start and I really enjoyed my time here. I can totally recommend it for any other travellers.

“All i could have wished for”

Shirley and his wife are such lovely and caring hosts. The place is very quiet, safe and clean, with a private bathroom and small terrace. The food they offer (i had vegetarian dinners) is fresh healthy and tasty for a reasonable price. Whenever I come back to Galle I will stay here again if possible and would everybody recommend to do the same 🙂

“We stayed just fot one night but it was a good stay!”

Shirley and his wife were so kind and did a lot for us. We could earlier in the room after a long flight. He arranged a taxi from the airport and to our next stay. It is a simple but nice room with a private terrace in a lovely garden. Sure worth the money!!

I had an amazing experience staying at this homestay for 2 weeks! The host father was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. From the moment I arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and had everything I needed. His warm hospitality truly made me feel at home, which was also the reason why I extend my stay here. The room was clean, spacious and the location was perfect for my internship at Karapitiya Hospital as a med student. The hospital and also a supermarket are conveniently close and can easily be reached on foot. My best experience would be the day, the host and his wife both cooked delicious local food for me and the other guest at the homestay, which we thoroughly enjoyed. If you're looking for a place where you'll be treated like family, this is the place to stay!!

“The booking doesn't meet the reality”

Look, we didn't even go cause we had a discussion with the owner about the booked facilities. Upfront He explained us that our booking was not valuable and that we should pay 7€ extra/per night for the AC. As it had been included in the room description, we refused. We spent a lot of time discussing for nothing... Luckily we found a great place with Pool and AC for the same price 😉

Very nice homestay, clean and well kept, with a beautiful garden and a terrace to eat outside. A/C is available for a reasonable fee. The owner is very kind and helpful.

Very friendly and diligent host who picked me up from and dropped me off at the bus station. A nice relaxing place down a quiet leafy road to stay and get some work done, with a good breakfast and a kitchen you can arrange to use. Good WiFi and transport links to the centre/fort.
